I have a had a regular gig for a little while now and I was wondering what is everyone's favorite Shortscale guitar to actually gig with? I know this changes over time, but what is working for you right now?

Also, what gigging shortscale guitar do you get the most compliments on?

I have gigged all my shortscales at least once and at the moment my favorite guitar for live work are my two Mustangs. The Mullet-stang has the vintage pickups and the 69 Mustang neck is the best neck I have on any of my guitars. The Compstang RI with the Lace Sensor Red Bridge pup really brings the heavier rock tones and is a good compliment to my Mullet-stang. The Mustangs are great for Rhythm guitar the smaller bodies are easy to play. I need to work the Jaguar back into the lineup, but the Tele is also begging for a turn and it's a fantastic live guitar and lots of tone options as well.

I gigged my Musicmaster, but having one pickup limits my tone options a bit. I actually got lots of compliments on this guitar with it's Fiesta Red color.

Never had as many positive comments on my guitar sound as when I used to gig my Jag-Stang. Was my main guitar for 8 or 9 years and I love(d) it. If I were to gig one of my shortscales I'd probably use that. Although my Jag is the one is play most at home.

It was my AV Jag... but its out of commission right now.

Mine is my Toronado GT HH, the Seymour Duncans sound amazing through my tiny terror and pedalboard. Ive gigged it like 3 times now and its just great for my bands sound. Its also one of the 2 shortscales i own.

My Musicmaster is my favorite because of it's simplicity. There's less of chance that I'll hit a switch . 1 pickups, 2 knobs, 1 push-pull pot.

The one I receive the most comments on is the Super-Sonic. Most people here think it's a one-off custom shop instrument since they've never heard of it, but the ones that know what it is are impressed to see one. And everybody comments on the freaking sparkle paint job.

I use my Jag now, used to use my jag-stang but that has retired to a life of appreciation and the odd bit of recording. It works really well for what I'm playing. I play it upside down aswell so I think people are a little confused when they see it. The last show we played I got a lot of positive reaction after we had finished playing, as with the type of music we play you don't usually see anything past a Les Paul or Ibanez or something.

I don't gig, but if I did my main shortscale would be my blacktop jaguar. I've modded it with a trem from guitar fetish and it's amazing.



It holds tune very well. I only have to tune it once every week or two, and I use the trem quite a bit.

My musicmaster got a LOT of play when we were doing smaller shows, 3 or 4 songs then load off. I would always get compliments on its looks, likely due to the custard finish and being a vintage Fender Full sets i used my Jaguar HH but it had too many switches and was really more than I needed in a live instrument. I have since traded it to Joey and then he traded it to Jim(?)
These days I stick to my telecasters, they're like an uncomfortable extension of my body, very familiar, reliable. My classic vibe doesn't get compliments outside of the tone (mostly my Bassman) but people love my 72 tele custom.

Wow, I've been curious about those trems for a while now but never had the guts to drill holes into even a cheap guitar for a trem that I never played before.

Good to know they're as good as they look.

I traded the Jaguar SH to Serfx once I finished installing the WRHB. Loved how it came out but the guitar was a little too heavy and the Comp-stang was much lighter and it was exactly what Serfx was after.

My Jag-Stang is the only one i've gigged in the last two years, the Jag is for home use. The most complimented short scale i've used live is the red Toronado GT that i no longer own.

Same here. I've actually never owned a Fender or Squier shortscale either. Had a Harmony Stratotone and some nameless MIJ 60's semi hollow. I played neither very long.

24.75 is short enough for me. Someday I'd like a Mustang or a Jaguar, but it's not a priority. Happier with my Rickenbacker and Ovations.
