Does anyone have any info on these guitars?
Just seen one for the first time but couldn't see much info

70's MIJ guitars made before the era the japanese got good at making guitars. Mostly entry level quality, if you can get one dirt cheap i may make a fun project but dont expect too much.

What would a reasonable price for one be?
Just to use it as a project.

In the UK you can pick them up for around £30.

I had a satalite for a while it was very cheap so I bought it as a project. They have ply bodies and the neck on the one I had wasn't great but the pickups had a good old school microphonic quality that was nice through fuzz pedals. If you see one in good condition and for the right price its a fun guitar to play.

I don't think they're Japanese, actually - most likely Korean before the Koreans got good at making guitars.

There were a lot of them about from around 1980 by which time the Japanese were plenty good at making guitars. Prior to that, Kay ruled the roost at the bottom end of the market.

Most of the Satellites I've come across have had plywood bodies. It's pretty easy to come up with a cheap guitar made of solid wood these days.

Aye... I made the mistake of buying the small mustangesque one ripped my fingers to bits and would not stay in tune utter garbage... they are mij before mij was a good thing

Sounds like you just want some validation. Okay, go ahead and buy that Mustangesque Satellite if you want. It's your money.

Just wanted some idea whether the body was any good on these because I don't want to buy it and it be completely diabolically crap and end up putting me off doing another project in the future

Like I said before - it'll probably be a plywood body and you'd probably be able to pick up something with a solid body for around the same price.

Good news! I've found a jaguar/jazzmaster copy for quite cheap so I think I'm going to possibly purchase that instead of the satellite body

I made the mistake of buying one off eBay as a project.
The neck has a weird (as in almost nonexistent) taper meaning a conventional bridge is too wide.
The holes for the tuners are really close together.
The plywood on mine was delaminating at the bottom of the neck pocket, meaning the body was pretty much scrap.

On the upside, the cheapest 24" scale guitar you'll ever see.
And the finish on them isn't hideous.

Seriously though, AVOID!
