So I've been thinking of selling my reverb pedal and picking up something that does vibrato instead in the near future, the VB-2 kind not the uni-vibe kind. I've been looking at the BBE mind bender and the small Malekko vibrato and both seem pretty cool.

Both seem to get pretty slow and sea-sicky which is partly what I was looking for. Unfortunatley most of the youtube demos for the BBE focus on the chorus, which would be a nice plus, but i'm mainly after vibrato

Has anyone tried either pedal? Or is there a good pedal for a similar price or less that I've missed?

I'd buy the Malekko over the BBE (because of the sound, and because Josh is ace). But then I'd also suggest you try the Behringer Vibrato - mine was great.

+1 on the Behringer, its spot on for the VB-2 sound and cheap as chips.

I got the Behringer and it is good, but doesn't go slow enough for me. There is a pretty simple mod though to slow it down.

I hadn't even considered the Behringer one, it seems good but having a slower speed would be nice. Not too sure i'd be able to mod one of those tiny printed circuits either.

How Slow do you need it to go? I honestly think it goes slow enough for anything I could possibly want to do.

There's also the EHX The Worm pedal. It does allsorts including Vibrato and can usually be picked up for less than the Malekko or BBE pedals.

I've heard that the older 'wooden box' ones (which I have) are better than the current ones - I'm pretty happy with mine, anyway. Biggest downside is the large footprint, otherwise they give a lot of bang for yer buck.

No offense to your pedal (I reckon you've got a good one, erm...) but it's a generally derided pedal. One to avoid (or at least try before you buy, although I'm only saying this to be nice).

I've got an old big box Worm for sale if you want it. Having said that, I don't rate the vibrato on it at all. I use my Clone Theory for that. The Worm is noisy and does lots but nothing particularly well, I think it's one of the few pedals that have been improved upon by Mike M and his pedal elves.

i mean, i bought it for the vibe part.....
and the vibrato was just as good!

I've had both the mind bender and the malekko vibrato and between the two I prefered the mind bender it gives
a bit of a volume boost but sounded so good, the malekko was the exact opposite there was a volume drop
unless you run it at 12 volts and even then I was less than impressed.

Thanks for the recs, I've got some time to think about it before I can afford one so I'll try and see if I can find any of them to try out.

I once had a vibrato pedal made by Moen called the Shaky Jimi, it was cheap and sounded really good.
