I've playing teles almost exclusively the last two years or so. That an a Epi Dot but I've been visiting guitar stores w/ the open mind approach trying to play everything I could get my dirty paws on and I kept coming back to the class series 60s strats. So, one came up in the ever rare burgundy mist on craigslist for a very fair price and I picked one up. Guitar is ace. Finish, sounds, everything is awesome. And it even has the 7.25 radius neck which is always a big plus.
this is my first strat since my very fist guitar, a Squier bullet. It plays great and sounds amazing. I think I may be officially becoming a . . . . GASP . . . strat guy.
except I still like my '74 mustang more

alos, the pictures suck big time because they're not with natural lighting and the finish looks much more amazing in person. A very metallic color that just doesn't come through without the proper lighting.
Ah, I love the smell of HOT STRAT in the morning.
I hope to own a burgandy mist fender one day. The subdued hue of mint plastics just does such a favour for a Strat in that finish. Nick used to own a burgandy classic 60s too.
I actually have been playing my AV '57 so much lately that I became convinced yesterday morning that I should get my Classic '70s neck back in action, so I slapped it together with a Squier body using only parts I had around the house and filed down a nut blank on it for the rest of the evening... and it magically turned out AMAZING. I instantly started playing Pumpkinz riffz on it though, which dissapointed me. It's like getting to sit in a CIA special purpose vehicle with super intelligent computer systems, tracking gear and other cool shit inside and all you can think to do is pretend you're turning the wheel frantically and chirp under your breath between squeally brake noises, "there's a brick road ahead, Michael" in a half-assed Mr. Feeny voice.
P.S. the second picture still looks great... some finishes you just can't fuck up.

haha nice, yeah I used to have one just like that, it was a great guitar before I ruined it with Lace Golds and a fucking LR Baggs X-Bridge/Ctrl-X for no reason. I parted it out, sold the neck to DodgeDartDave and the rest of the parts on eBay. I still have the pickguard to remind me not to ruin any more guitars with pointless mods I don't use.

if you ever want to get rid of the pick guard let me know. the only part of the guitar that isn't absolutely perfect is the guard. I guess the guy who had before me put a synth pickup in it, so it's got some extra holes.
I looked at the necks/bodies selling on ebay and I could part this guitar and make easily double what I paid for it. The classic series brings pretty ridiculous money parted out on ebay.

You don't want mine either then because it also has extra holes, only mine are by the control area for the 3 way microswitch and tiny push button for the ctrl-x system
Willin - my big objection to strats is pretty much the knob placement....not having played one for years then going back to it I notice I keep turning the volume down and knocking the neck pickup back down to middle or bridge. Other than I'm not crazy about the tremolo system, pr having three pickups in my strumpath
Fran - Don't think they ever made this series with matching headstocks...the tint on these necks is just way dark "vintage tint", and if you look near the fretboard you can see some grain.
what nick said is pretty much exactly right. I didn't like strats or jazzmasters for that matter because of the knob placement. I've never noticed the switch but always the volume. I may end up ordeing a custom guard for it if it become a problem with a master volume and tone so that it would push the volume down a little.
also, the vintage tint is crazy orange on this guitar and w/ the crappy iphone pics, it does kind of looking like a matching headstock, but it is not

I used to hate the volume knob position as well, but i found it didn't bother me when playing more subtle music. It does remain an issue thrashing punk stuff out though, for that reason i did an Delonge on one of my Predators..
