Going back to the 80's... 1987 Ibanez SDGR 1000 Bass

My bass player had it in a case under his bed where it's spent probably the past 5-6 years gathering dust. I traded some spare parts and forgave some cash he owed me for it... It came with its original hardshell case.

It sounds decent enough, feels good, and really solid. This is an old Fujigen guitar. It's got scratches all over, and one of the pots is completely seized, but I like how it sounds as it is. I don't play bass a lot (this is the second bass I've ever owned, and the first one was the first thing I sold when i got a nasty speeding ticket a few years back) so it'll probably just be at the house to have something to beat up on.

Or who knows, the color is definitely funky/fugly enough. Maybe I'll replace the active PJ setup with something passive and play bass for once. At least I'm gonna fix the damaged pot.

Ensure that your hair and pants are like that dude's before you attempt to play it.

Inevitably, that look will come back into fashion so it might be worth hanging onto it. Or pre-empt the hair metal revival & start playing it NOW, with the hair & keks.

As ugly as most Ibanez basses are, they have really good necks. The pickups are ok depending on which you have. I was given a GSR200, and at first I never played it because I hated the pickups. I ditched all the electronics and pots and stuck a Seymour Duncan QP in the P-bass slot and it's much better now. I'd be willing to guess that the pickups in yours are better than the GSR's. I've never played an 80's Ibanez but from what I've read they have a good sound.
