Ive been experimenting with open tunings and stumbled on this one somewhere... D-A-D-Gb-A-E. Its drop d with the G tuned down half a step and the B tuned down a full step. I really like it. Anyone have other ideas for odd open tunings that are drop D based? i like having the ability to do the power chords but also able to open it up a bit with the higher strings tuned different.

DADF#AE is one of my favorite open d reiterations, DADAC#E being the other. I use these two constantly.

It's open D, except you've left the High E as E
Think of the Gb as F# (same thing, but makes more sense)

Yeah, it's tuned to D add9; sounds like it could be fun!

Open D tunings, or Drop D variations are basically the easiest tuning for me to get used to it seems.

I have been playing D-A-D-F#-B-E a bit recently. Doesn't sound like a chord...

but I know it is just drop D on the bottom strings, but then the top 3 are all discordant and fun.

I use this a lot too, my only songs not written in standard are in it. It's open D with the top 2 strings left standard, great for extended janglies about the fretboard.

Been writing in CGCGA#C these last couple days. It's yeilding pretty interesting minor stuff for the metalz but with the added bonus of a sibilant G and A#, if fretted together for the noise assholery.
