I traded my Ibanez Soundgear 1000 bass for this. A Gibsun Les Paul Replica, a Fender 1x12 cab, and a nice mexican dinner.

I have tuners and a tail piece already... I guess I'll be ordering some new pickups and pots and use it around the house. This guitar seriously weighs a ton as it is... I can't imaging gigging with it.

After my vacation though. GAS budget is on hold.

How do you know it's a replica? Looks pretty authentic based on the pictures. If it was a real Gibson , you could put minimum money restoring and sell it for quite a bit.

My friend who I made the trade with flat out told me it was a replica. Although it has a Gibson USA serial number that says it's a 2006 Les Paul Standard, there's a few things that are just a little bit off. I compared it with my tech's LP Standard this morning, and the headstock angle isn't the same, and it's a 2 piece neck, rather than one solid piece all the way through (although depending on your point of view, that might be an improvement).

Although, even without electronics, it weighs more than his.

So far, I've ordered a new truss rod cover, and a new set of tuners, since my 3+3 set just looks ugly to me. Just small pieces until I get some cash and order these 4 big things (and one minor, but important thing):

No fret binding nubs, sunburst pattern is way off, switch and ring are import style (different switch, different font/colours on ring). At a first glance without seeing the headstock I assumed it was an Epi just from the burst pattern.

Gibsons always have a "tearburst" shape to the burst pattern like this



A lot of Epi bursts mimick this, but many such as the Ultra IIs or '59 RIs they did will appear with the burst following the body edges up by the switch/horn.



That's also definitely thick-ass polyurethane. A Gibson with nitro that thick, smooth and reflective would not have appeared as brightly cherry sunbursted as the photos have come out.

I believe it's a third shift run or factory overrun from a the non-Gibson Epiphone supplier plants in China. The previous owner stated that the guitar had stock Epi pickups and hardware when he received it.

That is about as dead of a give a way as there is, all Gibson's are one piece with a peice added to each side of the head stock to fillout the shape



also, I just put the 59 and VEH in my Vista and I quite like them...... I think they sound really good split compared to most buckers

Here's a few more pics. As far as pickups go, I'm now leaning towards a matched set of Dragonfire Screamers to try and keep the budget low.

And it's a Hex rod underneath that.
