Experiment Tele

Can somebody do the math on this? I am picking up a reclaimed 150 y.o. barn wood tele that a guy on Reranch was selling for cheap, along with an unfinished neck. I could add to the pile of Telecasters stinking up the place, or I could do something else without worrying about shitting upon anything of value.
I happen to have a few Filtertrons to lose, and could try a Tele Deluxe pickguard. I see that there are already Jazzmaster trems on Teles. Would the Mustang trem to be compatible with filtertrons and a Tele neck? Mustangs can use a TOM, and TOMs can be put with with Filtertrons. It can't be too far off, could it? Length? I don't think there are any routs yet.
Does it look ass? That Mustang bridge is similar to the Bigsby mod. Alternately, would I be better closer to the classic Tele guard with some kind of Mustang switches? I haven't even thought about the controls. The bridge pickup could possibly have a Gretsch ring and not extend the guard. The neck is one piece mapplez BTW. I would like to show some grain, but not essential.

that's a really cool idea. I have a jazzmaster vibrato on my tele custom. As far as compatibility, I don't see why it wouldn't work out.

imo it looks too cluttered with the standard tele guard. I used a custom guard on mine:

Looks cluttered, sounds incredible. I love the Tennis guitar sound.

It's amazing what a few minor changes can do. I also might try binding it. If it were sunny tomorrow, I would be spraying a BC Rich.

Here's something I guess I never noticed, that the Mustang guard is a mutated Tele guard. Cut it flat at the bridge and extend the horn and you're there. I think with the Mustang plate and Tele knobs, it might take a minute to figure out what the hell we are looking at. Here's where I wish I could go all Narco Martenot and copper plate all the metal. Gray wood and green oxidation.
That Mustang guard doesn't quite fit the look at the bottom, yet it completes the curve to the bridge and the plate looks western like a pistol grip. Here's your pawnshop.

Is this tele going to be 25.5" or 24" scale? You could attach the neck, measure out the scale, and mark your bridge holes and the Mustang trem routes. Definitely will need a custom pickguard or something to fill in the gaps depending on which scale you go with. I might be able to draw it out some if I get a free moment today.
I think its a great idea and could look really killer.

It's going to be full scale. Joe Desperado made the rough cuts and is packing up to move from Chicago to Hawaii. I just got the box in with the barn board and it has these big holey moley knots in it. I will poast pictars. It's two pieces with square nail holes in it.
He also sent me a stack of mando bodies and necks. He is the man, man. Some of the mando neck rough cut, so I will be getting a crash course in neck work. One of them is wenge and the other koa.

Yes, that is really kickin.
The pickguard does make the whole layout flow so much better.

I got the neck in the mail. I didn't know how far he got with it. It only needs to be radiused and fretted, which doesn't scare me as much as it ought to. I don't want to fuck it up, but it can't injure me. The farther I go the more I want to try everything.
I like vintage, but bare wood is dizzying. I have been more excited about stuff in the mail, but this is a new feeling. The thing is so RAW. I decided to ratchet back on the pickups and see where it goes. The real question is what would make a killer Telecaster?
I will take a picture. I was having trouble getting my Nikon to DL onto my Mac with Snow Leopard but I just got it fixed.
