EHX stuff gets tackier and tackier. Wouldn't touch either of those with someone else's guitar signal.

Is Mike Matthews undergoing some kind of Santa Clause-style transformation? I love that he's turning into even more of a weird rambling old man.

I don't see these as tacky at all; they're adding some really decent and useful functionality to existing ideas, not horrendous gimmicks like that fucking bluetooth wah someone posted a few weeks ago. I'm sure the wah will have nothing but comments about "WHUT IT I WANT TO LEAVE IT SET SOMEWHERE ON THE SWEEP, HUH?!" style comments.. still pretty cool though, even if most wah players are "stick with what you know" type guys.

I know I'm hardly in a minority here, but that Dirks... I sure would like to kiss her.

The one cool thought I had about the wah was that it would free up more pedal board space since it obviously can't be attached like a traditional wah pedal can. You could bring it along and shove it in your bag when you are done and put more pedals on your board. I agree traditional players might stick up their noses at this, but I love EHX because they come up with some of the most creative stuff.

One disadvantage I see is you can't engage the people and leave it on at a particular setting (ex. half cock wah) unless your foot is on it all the time.

Both are pretty cool but I'm not really a wah guy. The synth pedal is more my thing but I'm more interested to see if the ambient players will sell their freeze's en masse to upgrade so I can get one cheap.

You mean just like you can with a regular wah pedal?

You can save a ton of space on your board by just not buying one !!

Despite being quite a nice idea.... The Wah sounds awful, a standard crybaby would wipe the floor with that. There is very little sweep there. on off on off.

I do love EHX stuffs though... they are trying to push the boundaries which is commendable, and at great value.

Thinking about it, I'm surprised they haven't integrated it all and done an M9 style multi effects. My guess is, a totally different type of board from what EHX do ?

Wow, EHX did it again. I no fan of wah but this is quite minimalistic approach to the wah idea. The most interesting stuff is that he said that its the first of a line of pedals. interesting to see how they might make use of this more flexible expression pedal feature in other pedals.
Also, the superego looks very cool. would like to listen to more demos of it, hopefully it will be affordable.

my question is..... this wah has no on or off switch...so does your signal always go thru the wah circuit...and its just waiting for you to move it?...I would be very interested in how this thing bypasses

I'm guessing when it defaults to the flat position (or you take your foot off it), it bypasses.

Superego is a must-buy for me. I've wanted that portamento effect for ages and the only places to get it prior to this were on the HOG (spendy) or the V256 (not as spendy, but I didn't want to buy a vocal pedal for just one effect).

The wah is fascinating. I hate wah. But that pedal is rather amazing.

Not after what I do to her you won't.

I'm building the opposite of that wah. Its just a pedal with a pot that has a knob on it, and you turn it with your hand. It's GREAT at that "somewhere in the sweep" sound.

Accelerometer in the wah. Pretty easy to figure that one out.
The superego lookd cool, but I don't know how practical it would be.
I still love all the innovation that EHX does.

I think it's cool that they're always willing to try crazy things, however for me the Superego looks like one of those pedals that would be only useful tastefully in less than 30 seconds (probably in an intro or ending) in one song....I'd try the wah, it probably comes down to a comfort preference if it's better to have a base and pot or not...I don't care much for wah anyway, but I think most of the people who do will take issue with the fact that you can't just stick it on your pedalboard...I'd even be wary of using a power supply with it considering the pedal can move around somewhat on stage...one wrong yank and you're silent.

Check it out, it's got one of those little "retainer" clip thangs to prevent that:
