Recommend Jazzmaster pickups for my JM project

i am moving along with my Jazzmaster project and I am starting to think about pickups. My experience with with Jazzmaster pups is limited to my Squier jagmaster that I installed Lindy Fralin Jazzmaster pickups (7.4k neck and 8.4k bridge). Those pickups were a little hotter than I am wanting for this project. I recently played a AVRI Jazzmaster and really like those pickups. So I am thinking I want JM pups with vintage or slightly higher output but not too much above that. I would love to hear what pickups you all recommend.

I have a vintage spec pair in my Jazzie. Unbeatable price, great sound.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I make vintage spec jazzmaster pickups. you can check out some sound samples and pictures at www.bullockguitarpickups.com. Discounts for shortscalers.

Otherwise, I've heard nothing but good things about the suggestions others have posted.

What kind of output do your JM pickups have? How do they compare tone/output wise with vintage JM pups? Do you have a demo of your JM pickups?

Your prices look good. I spent $80 per pickup for my Lindy Fralins. Do they hum cancel in the middle position?

I have had no complaints with my Seymour Duncan Vintage Jazzmaster pickups. They sound really good.

I have the high output GFS Jazzy pups in creature. I really really really like the neck, and middle position. But the bridge is crap unless it's running into dirt, really muddy clean. But it gives the guitar a great grunt when pushing through some fuzz.

As far as tone/output, my pickups are very similar to the pickups that I have played in vintage jazzmasters. I do wind mine vintage correct with 1/8 inch thick bobbins wound full to the edge - the primary difference between reissue pickups and vintage pickups, which results in pickups with the output of the pickup being roughly 7.6k for the neck and 8.1k for the bridge. If you have a preference, I can do slightly overwound, or slightly underwound, as well. The pickups would be hum-cancelling in the middle position.

Here are a couple of rough sound samples of two of my jazzmaster pickups being played through an epi valve junior.

I like how those sound. Were the pickups mounted in a Jazzmaster?

Thank you. They were mounted in a strat (jazzmaster scale) with a jazzmaster circuit (1meg pots etc..), and Jazzmaster correct (or incredibly close) pickup spacing. The body they were in was probably 3/4lb lighter than a typical jazzmaster body.

I just didn't hear the normal trebliness of the Jazzmaster tremolo which is why I asked. I used to have a Jagmaster with JM pups and that's what it sounded like. Very warm with 500K pots.

There's definitely something about the combination of the tremolo and the rocking bridge that have an affect on the tone that isn't present with a strat bridge. There's really not anything I've heard that comes close to the sound. I think the shallow break angle from the bridge to the tailpiece has something to do with the trebliness of the Jazzmaster as well.

Hack it up and cram in some Telenators.

I would reccomend Seymour Duncan Antiquity II's if you like vintage with a little treble. If you like a more bassy vintage Jazzmaster tone, I would go with Pickup Wizard Pre-CBS style Jazzmaster pickups. I have had both and very much enjoyed both.

A second hand set of AVRI will most likely be cheaper than any other pups.

I second AVRIs. I've never felt any compulsion to change the stock pickups in my AVRI Jazzmaster. They sound great.
