Travis Bean guitars

so, I've been looking into these guitar and the more I listen to them, I want one really bad. They're a way out of my price range, so my question is this: are there any Japanese copies or anything similar. I don't expect anything to have the aluminum neck, obviously, I was just curious because I'm not very knowledgeable on all of the old copies around. I've looked into the Gibson 335s but can't find that or a Travis Bean in person and there's no way in hell I can drop over a grand on a guitar I haven't played.

also, how big is the body on Travis Beans? It looks giant because of the 335 shape, but the picture below is w/ a short guy, so it's hard to gain perspective.

the tb500 has been a wet dream of mine for quite some time, but i know i'll never be able to afford one. it's crazy because the bridge actually mounts to the neck. wylin'

I've never really liked the shape of that guitar but I'm sure it'd be really cool to play/own.

As the forum's only Deadhead, I give you Jerry's two TBs:

Though, if I was to lust after a TB myself, it'd look exactly like Willie's 2nd picture. I'm a dark wood slut.

Gibson did a 335s in the old Firebrand Series.
Came with Dirty Fingers too.

I'm toying with the idea of an ECG myself actually.
Probably a wood hybrid SG style.

The aluminum neck? That's the best part!

Kramer made a fair amount of aluminum neck guitars that you can find for lot less money than a Travis Bean. But the Kramers aren't usually that pretty.

I'd you want a current-production guitar with an aluminum neck (and frankly, what's the point of a TB copy without one?), check out Electrical Guitar Company as dub mentioned. Yes, they're pricey, but you can get your King Buzzo on.

pretty sure I could find an actual Travis Bean for the price of their stuff.

also, I want fretboard wood. the aluminum neck is super cool but not really what attracts me to the guitar. I just like the shape, looks, and sound of it.

since budget is the issue, would a used LP DC do it?..can get them used pretty easily with buckers or P90's... way more affordable too

that's actually a really good idea. I'm going to have to look into that, for sure.

Here's my Electrical Guitar Company custom. For some reason I don't have a single decent pic of it.

But yeah, if you want the sound you'll need the aluminium neck.

My friend has a Travis Bean, it's really cool sounding but the neck is insanely thin.

Tim, how long did it take for EGC to deliver on your order?

I'm seriously starting to consider saving my bucks for a standard and I want to put my order in as soon as I have most of the cash available, in order to cut down on wait time.

Yeah... I'm pretty close to selling all of my guitars to pay for them to make me an all aluminum mustang.

They recently made an all aluminum hi-flyer that gave me such a 6 string boner that I immediately started checking what the ebay values were on my current guitars.
