The L.E. Jaguar was a drag and it ended up sucking. Good news is this is on the way to me.

Me too. It is from Ishibashi and those guys are usually very good sellers so I am pretty sure it will be good.

Way classier looking than the LE in my opinion.

After seeing an L.E. in person, I agree. Blonde on basswood looked like pale mustard. This one is supposed to be alder. Very excited!

I think you should redrill that strap peg and maybe take a big gash out of the bottom. THEN you'll have a guitar.

Nice! "All's well that ends well", so to speak. Congratulations.
How much is Ishibashi charging for shipping nowadays, if you don't mind me asking?

How can it be a 66 RI when it doesn't have the bound neck? Looks more like a 62 RI afaik. Anyway, way nice

Yup! This one was a little over $900 with free shipping.
Winning.

That is quoted from Ishibashi. They probably mistyped or something. I also think it is OLY not VWH. Vintage White is way yellow and this doesn't look like Vintage White from the examples on the Fender site to me. This one looks good to me, so I am not too worried about what RI year it is, just that it is Fender, looks pro, and hopefully sounds good.

Fender J don't do Jags or Mustangs in Oly - it's just that the 90s VWH was quite yellow and the more recent VWH tends toward buff/beige. Likewise, the tort has gone from angry red to brown speckle. The models have been called JG66 and JM66 for years, I am pretty sure my 90s MIJ Jags say JG66 on the neck heel and have unbound necks; the bound neck ones have a different code. Fender Japan don't actually do *any* reissue models - even the TL52 is just a Tele with features *like* but not identical to a 1952 Tele.
Ishibashi are great and their international staff are fantastic - so helpful and friendly. One time they even bent their store policies for me because I had made an error.

Thanks for all that info. I have a white Japanese Jazzmaster. So is it save to say it is actually VWH even though it was sold to me as OLY?

Looks exactly the same as my VWH Jags from the 90s (U serial; note the one with humbuckers has yellowed slightly beyond VWH):

My Jazzy doesn't look that white. It is more creme. Maybe it has yellowed with age?

My camera must have white-balanced, in person the Jags look quite yellow.

Cool. It it is the same color as my Jazzy, I will be psyched. That is my favorite guitar so having a Jag version would rule.

It may be - but I think the more recent VWH is a pale brownish white (mushroom?) compared to our old yellower VWH. Anyway - it is what it is!

I will do a side by side photo when it arrives. My Jazzy is a bit older. It is a 1997 that was caught up in the Made in Japan Crafted in Japan switch. It says Crafted in Japan, but has the V serial number.

I love the mint guard on white. Very jealous.
