my bandmate needs a ne 15'' bass speaker, we don't know anything about bass speakers. Some guy told us it doesn't really matter witch one he buys. I guess he doen't know what he's talking about, at least for guitar i know that's not right...
any good cheap speakers i should know of?

Honestly, I'd trust just about anything made by eminence. Mainly for the fact that most of their speakers are crazy efficient. If its a single 15, I'd be looking for volume over anything. Tone is definitely important but I doubt there's a bass speaker in production that's flat-out awful.

MOST XMAX
witch is some dumbass term used to rate the maximum speaker excursion, which is how far the speaker can move in/out, which is important for low frequencies.
choosing a speaker depends a lot on the situation, different speakers are made for different types of enclosures. do some super-googlin' and read up on speakers.

I would also recommend eminence... it seems like they aren't too expensive and they sound good. When I was in high school my friend put one in his old ass Peavey TKO and it sounded great!

It depends on the setup that you want with your speakers. If you are looking at the smaller speakers, you would likely consider the one with the heaviest sound. But I would choose whatever Xmax has going. But then again, it still depends on what type of situation and place you are probably going to use it for. Or better yet, what you are most comfortable with, right?

I use an EMINENCE KAPPA-15C. It's a great speaker with a lot of punch.
