Telecaster Cabronita vs Telecaster Vintage Hit Rod '52

Spent some of my lunch at a music store net work and hey! They have a Cabronita Telecaster! So of course I ask to play it for a while. Put it through a Hit Rod amp and gave it a workout. It was a nice guitar, but kind of disappointing. I thought the TV Jones pickups would be a bit more interesting. Still - quite enjoyable. Then the store assistant said "when I quit I'm taking this" which was a blonde Vintage HoT Rod '52. So of course I had a go at that as well.
I have to say the neck pickup on the Vintage Hot Rod pissed all over the Cabronita. The bridge pickup was anaemic at best, but that humbucker was great. Raw, snarl, good even tone from bass to treble. You would never use the bridge pickup on that guitar.
And the Cabronita? Save your $.
