Squier Jag/Jazz/Stang in the US?

I am sure this has been discussed before, but i couldn't find the thread(maybe it's part of another).

So there has been a buzz on a few other forums that Squier will be releasing fully functional (the rhythm circuits included) and mustang II versions in the US this summer.

I've done the standard internet searches and such, but i haven't found anything definitive. Does anyone have solid info, of is this just a hopeful wish?

man.. i wish my brother was still a fender dealer.

Thanks in advance...

yeah I've seen this odd baseless rumor on other forums too: that the they will be japan only releases. I have no idea where this rumor came from. it seems like someone just completely pulled it out of their ass. possibly to do with the fact that there was that japanese FSR squier mustang, so someone thought that these were more in that line of guitars. except that, a.) that's a completely different guitar than the mustang in these new pictures and, b.) these new pictures were from FMIC not fender japan.

Fender isn't saying anything officially either way.

Unofficially, I'm convinced enough that I already sent them an email telling them I'd like to review one when they're ready.

Really? Usually the threads there are banal musings or prick waving about gear. There's a thread about shoes for fuck's sake, but I really do hope they're right, I need a Mustang!

there must be at least a grain of truth to it. what possible dividend is paid by scrambling the brains of so many off-set fanatics?

Sorry, let me rephrase.

Two posts from the OSG thread are convincing:

The specs rundown...

And the "insider info" that online music retailers are already preordering

The rest of the thread is basically donkey balls

recall when the pawnshop series began? there was pic that was released on fender's facebook, or another site.. and it was around april 1, people thought the screwy looking mustang with no name on the headstock was an april fools joke.

but what it mounts to is either a slip up or a "slip up" by releasing the pics accidentally. but when i worked for Weber grill, designing smokers and such, we'd lurk on all the forums. You KNOW Fender has someone monitoring the trends and the tastes.. Sure enough, there is 50 pages of buzz, not to mention other forums.

It's free market research and surveys. What are people interested in? will they buy? it's not even been announced and there's line around the block for them.

still.. without the offical anouncement, i hope they are real around the pric point... if can't be MORE than the JM JM.. here we go! feeding frenzy!!

You're probably right but one useful tidbit from the OSG thread is that online retailers seriously underestimated the demand for the JMJM and are planning to stock far more of these guys.

The "leak" of these photos was surely a ploy to gauge interest, as others have concluded.

They're real. There is no reason to think otherwise, other than outright pessimism/negativity, and nobody likes a pessimist.

The Fender rep didn't know about them but after calling his office he didn't deny it (I wasn't there for the conv.), and thought it was an inside job to leak for the hype and publicity.
