I've been considering this for a while now. The bridge on my old Dano is seriously bowed. Rather than just buying a replacement I've been considering a bigsby and Les Paul-style roller bridge. The options are limited and have all sorts of problems, though. There's not an enormous amount of height to work with, so I was thinking the TOM would have to be recessed into the body, the posts/mounting cups at the very least. Then there's the construction and space behind the bridge (it's a U2 which isn't very big). To install a flat-mount bigsby I'd have to stuff the inside of the guitar with wood because the masonite wouldn't be thick enough. So I was thinking of a bigsby tailpiece without tension bar which wouldn't require any screws into the top of the body. But I'm not sure how the measurements work on the GFS website for its bigsby copies. When it gives the total length, does it take into account the hinged piece that attaches to the butt of the guitar? There's only 5 and a half inches to work with y'see.

To give that thing a length of 6.75" they must be including the hinged part flipped out while the tailpiece is uninstalled... if you look at the pic of it mounted to the 335, taking into account that a humbucker is only about an inch and a quarter tall from that orientation, there's no way there's 6.75" of tailpiece extended onto the top of that guitar. From the bottom edge to the spring you could probably squeeze about 3 buckers and change, which would be somewhere between 4-5 inches of length.
The hinged metal clasp is listed as 1 3/8" long, so you should have juuuuust enough room. It'll be close.
