Amp suggestions UPDATE: NAD!

Apologies if we just talked about this. Don't think so.

Anyway, I want a new amp, after blowing up my pathfinder. Want something relatively light, 15-30 watts, and most likely a combo. I'm looking at a budget of around $300-500. Hoping for something I can practice with, but also play a gig with.

I've been looking at the vox AC15vr. would like something usable out of the box, that has decent cleans and takes pedals well.

any help would be appreciated.

As I suggested on twitter check out the laney vc15, really great amp, vox tonez and cheaper, lovely cleans and the drive channel offers great range but if your after high gain it won't do it. Also. Check the tiny terrors as well

The Laneys are great, less affordable overseas unfortunately. I'm definitely getting a LC50 should I ever pick up a tube combo in my future.

Hmm... Maybe a Bugera? The V22 looks pretty solid. These guys are a Behringer subset right?

The Laney does look pretty good. There's a VC30 on ebay right now for around $500 that might be good.

I would avoid the AC15VR entirely, why not just spend the same amount and get a real AC15 with tubes, they take pedals just fine and sound awesome on top it and aren't that heavy. Look on Craigslist as they always pop up in your price range. The ones that are out now come with a Greenback speaker and don't need an upgrade like the older versions with Wharfdales did.

Here's a neat little ampeg:

This is too much wattage but nonetheless a great deal:

Maybe a bit too much for your budget for a new one, but I've demo'd the Egnater Tweaker a few times and been really impressed. Very flexible and great sounding.

I've looked at the AC15c1 but I've heard that there's some mods that need to be done to make it better with pedals. I believe Benecol did this (he also said it's pretty heavy, but that's not the biggest deal).

I will definitely look into these. Thanks.

Fender Blues Junior. Great combo with master and channel volume. The reverb is pretty nice.

I would also recommend the Silverface Vibro Champ, but it might be a little quiet at gig volumes and not as good eq as the Blues Junior.

another Ampeg Jet:

These are EL84 powered so they may be voxy sounding?

here's a pro jr too:

What do you guys know about Peavey Valvekings? there's one local that looks like it might be perfect. 50W (a little high), 1x12 speaker, switchable A/AB power. A bit on the heavy side, but I might be able to trade the Goth Tbird Bass for some credit, and even alone it's only $250.

Fuck all that. Going for an Egnater Tweaker15. Sounds the business and is just barely in my price range.

Berhinger sans amp clone and a good PA. That is my current setup and honestly, I am pretty amazed at how good it sounds. It does help that I have a pretty decent PA so it makes a big difference when running guitar into it.

Cool, I've heard good things about the Egnator.

In case you're still deliberating, I'll throw in my two cents. I've been sticking with old Fender point-to-point as of late, and recently picked up an 84 Fender Concert head + a small 1x12 cab for $500 off CL. For the price, it's amazing. Has tones somewhat close to those of a 60s blackface. I saw a combo version for $550 at Real Guitars not too long ago.

It's not really what you're looking for because it's 60 watts and it's heavy (the head + small cab option is much easier to deal with IMO). However, I bring it up because it's cheap, sounds great, and you won't need to upgrade in the future. It can do AC15 volumes as well if you just keep it around 3.

I do also recommend Laney, but haven't played one since I was a teenager. Remember loving those amps, but IIRC they sound more on the Marshall side of the spectrum.

So I was going to go for an Egnater. Then I found a Laney VC30 at the local shop back home. Lorez, good call on this one. Sounds great and I got a free footswitch in the deal 'cause the channel selector switch is busted.

You can also see the Devi Ever Legend of Fuzz that I finally picked up.
