Hi guys, this is my first real post here, I've been browsing around, and compared to most other forums I use you all seem very knowledgeable and friendly so I'm looking forward to using this site.
ANYWAY, I just bought a Squier VM Custom off a friend for a cheap price with a plan of modifying it. One of the main things I want to do, is make it short scale, however I haven't found anywhere in the UK to get a short scale telecaster neck. If anyone knows where you can get a maple telecaster neck, 24" would be preferable, not as bothered by the amount of frets, that would be great, or how much it costs for somewhere like (sigh) Warmoth to ship over here.
This will be my first real guitar project, so I hope I don't annoy you all with amateurish questions, here's my plan of action though.
- Short scale neck
- Change pickups for BareKnuckles of some sort, still narrowing it down, currently torn between Warpigs, Nailbombs and Cold Sweats.
- Small things like pot upgrades etc
- Possibly a bridge upgrade/swap for a black one (mainly for aesthetics, no shame)
- Very tempted to build in a fuzz pedal, someone I know did it and it turned out very well, but I don't know a huge amount about doing it so any advice would be great.
So where should I start, and do you guys have any suggestions or ideas that I've missed out?
