I have bought my first shortscale guitar and received it from Japan just today. I decided to get one after playing a pawn shop special from guitar center last week. I thought I might as well spend a few extra dollars to get a proper mustang reissue from Japan. I really liked the look of the MH on the CAR (sadly no other colors on the reissue models currently) so that's the one I bought.
So here I am, hello everyone! I'll probably play on it all night after work and post my impressions.

Jaguar? Mustang? Something else? Color scheme? We need details. Otherwise, it's as if you said: "Hey guys! I just bought a gas guzzling muscle car!"

Sorry guys I was either busy playing the guitar or at work. I guess I wasn't too specific on what I got.
I have a 1969 Fender Mustang Reissue CAR with the matching headstock. The only other guitar I own is the 2004 Fender American Stratocaster deluxe 50th anniversary edition. Used to have various other strats and a gibson SG but I sold them all.
I really love playing this guitar more than anything else. I'm really glad I invested in it, no buyer's remorse whatsoever. There's a few things that I noticed while I was using the guitar.
The tremolo will make the guitar go out of tune if you are touching the bridge or the strings while using the bar. Otherwise the guitar will stay in tune if you use the vibrato system that the mustang has. Although, this doesn't really help me because most people play with their hands resting somewhere on the strings or the bridge.
The guitar came with some light fret buzzing all over the neck. I switched to 11 gauge (they came with 9s) and it seemed to alleviate most of the problem. Not sure why they decided to have the screws for intonation facing the back and make it way harder to turn them. I do prefer playing on lighter strings so I might take it up to the shop to see what they can do. If anyone knows a good luthier in washington that knows mustangs, hit me up!
I never used a guitar with a switching system like the mustang before so it was a bit odd to get used to. In fact, I'm still not used to using it and it seems to be at a weird location so my hand brushes it sometimes and hits the switch. The out of phase thing seems cool to play around with but I don't really care for it that much. I will probably change the pickups to something more full sounding sometime in the future. I have to admit that the sound is a bit weak and can't really compare to my stratocaster but it's not bad in any way. Anyone else have different pickups in their mustangs? I would love to see hear some good recommendations for both the bridge and the neck.
Oh and sorry about not posting pics. The only camera I have is my phone and I don't think it will do any justice to the guitar. But I will post them if you guys want them that badly
And another misc question but where is the best place to get a pickguard for the mustang reissue? The standard pearloid is nice but I think a 3 ply black would look awesome as well.

Guitar Parts Resource have a lot of Mustang/Jaguar/Jazzmaster stuff for the different runs usually, their Japanese Mustang guards are pricey though... and apparently the different runs of '69RI MIJ/CIJ compstangs and sonic blue/white Mustangs had some different pickguard/screw patterns, etc.. so maybe someone (robroe? or someone who's tried the GPR guards) can offer more solid info on that.
There are two really expensive OEM tort and pearloid guards here that I'm thinking are for the 65 RI even though they don't say it... then the black, mint and white 3-ply "MIJ" non-Fender guards for $30 which are probably for the 69RI.
