Check these out , two Vista squier Jagmasters but look at the huge price differences,??
They have the lovely MIJ jaguar neck on them but the cheaper one has the truss rod at the headstock , it does make some what of a difference , in appearance mostly, not not a $400.00 dollar difference to me, I dont know why the "White Vista" would be worth paying as much a a "Classic player Jag", I think that's WAY OVERPRICED,
Yes they are not in production anymore and more rare than the CP Jags, but still, wouldn't pay $720.00 for a squier, it doesnt even look right looking at "$720.00 for a squier"

Now this one in the other hand is well with it I think and would even deal with the truss rod at the headstock , it seems to be modified a bit, different looking pups, but not sure. I would probably switch out the electronics anyhow but again, this cheaper vista is the smarter choice if I were to buy one.

I know a lot of people like these Vista's on here so I thought of you guys when seeing these while searching ebay for any cheap squier for a buddy to use as a beginner guitar. My buddy wants me to start giving him lessons , so I was just browsing eBay, but I'm probably g0nna take him to Sam ash guitar store and buy one of those "Squier strat package deals with amp and all. If he was up to it, I'm gonna recommend the New squier Cyclone for i believe its 250 or so, $100-$200 on ebay. I really like those and since I'll be teaching him with my mustang, so it will be cool if he'll have a shortscale also.

White models may not come up often but its still not a $720.00 guitar.
They are nice but so are the new Chinese Squiers at a fraction of that price. Not a good time to be hiking Vista prices in my opinion, their original charm was being an affordable Offset but now the market is saturated with them.
I'd advise a beginner to purchase any number of the recent Squiers, you cant go wrong with them.

Well, first run Jagmasters are the most desirable model and white is probably the most desirable colour, other than sonic blue.
I sold a sunburst first run Jagmaster three years ago for $500 on craigslist. Considering inflation, desirability and rarity, I would say this price isn't far off the mark.
Also, you might be surprised what a JV model will go for...
That being said, I don't think I could ever pay that much for one, considering the quality and affordability of current production Squiers.
This is sound advice.

i played that new squier Telecaster with the jazzmaster neck and pickups in it yesterday at the shop. it wasn't only vista quality, it was 1000 dollar fender quality as far as feel, fit and finish. i never plugged it in so it might have sounded like a fat turd. but i loved the way it felt on. the thing was fucking perfect
i never would have said this about any squier before this one, but for 300 bucks i would take the telecaster over a vista jagmaster. (not including excalibur)

Pffft, its a load of MOJOFEATHERS. All the choice available now and folk are shelling out big money for these, its hilarious, just because they were made on the same run as some CIJ Jaguars.

I really wanted one of those but went for the JM Jazzmaster. Your old blue Esquire is gonna get this treatment i reckon.

Yeah, the MOJOTONES certainly have a big role to play in their price but you can't ignore the fact that we're talking about a 15 year old guitar with a reputation for excellent craftsmanship and a MSRP of $499 that is somewhat rare and in a desirable coulour...
The days of $250 Vista Jagmasters has simply passed us by. There's no free lunch available at the Vista counter anymore.

Well, they were a good basis to start from, the pups leave a bit to be desired though.
But whatever, let folks get on with it.

Mine, which was almost identical, stayed at $279, but then again, the auction didn't say "Vista" and misspelled Squier.
p.s. Those Dragonfires look like Screamers. Those things definitely don't need to be swapped out.

Why?

lighter, thinner neck, better pickups out of the box, three way switch, no post-bridge harmonics, BROWN TORT

They were supposedly the same body and neck as the CIJ Jaguar but its never been officially confirmed to be fair.
+1 on the three way but i think the pups are about as bland as the Jags, albeit humbuckers. They certainly dont touch the Duncans in the GT Toronados, you may disagree as you owned one of them as well right?

yeah, i could never get shit to happen with the pearly gates/PAF combi.
my jaguar/jagmaster comparison thread clearly shows that the guitars do not appear to be that close, other than in body/headstock shape. the grains on the body and neck are completely different, and the neck profile on the jaguar is much more vintage jaguar B-width, vs. the nearly-A width modern strat type neck on the jagmaster. not to mention the sunburst/clearcoat differences. pretty vast discrepancies for guitars made within a few months of each other, i think.
i love the vista tone pickups, clean and dirty. however, i have a super distortion and PAF (GFS Split coil) that i'm putting in it as soon as i can.
