NGD: CV 50's Tele. Should I get new saddles or something?

Got a good deal on one of these on CL. It's a great guitar, better than any MIM I've played and than most MIA teles too. It's generally cool, the neck is extremely dreamy and the whole guitar is generally solid but I raised the neck pickup a bit because it was weak. Intonation can be a bit janky at times. I know some people replace the bridge, but I like that it is solid for sustain. The Telecaster forum warriors seem to believe strongly in replacing the saddles. Any opinions on what mods are useful, is any? I think the pickups are just marvelous.
