DR strings

Just replaced my dead D'Adderios with DR Tite-Fit 10s, nickel plated, round core. Of course the packaging lit makes scientific-sounding claims of superior sound & life, with a Jeff Healey endorsement.

New strings make the guitar sound much better so it's hard to tell the difference between these DRs and other strings. (If this is my problem for today, then I'm blessed  )

Any opinions on these?

Cheers,

I feel the same. I'm pretty neutral when it comes to strings. Pretty much just goes by what lasts longest. I tried these and they are not really any different then anything else in my opinion. I actually tried these new strings out called Kurt Managans which are really nice and last long.

To me, DR strings have the best feel out of any other brand I've tried. To me that's pretty important.

The professional musicians I've talked to on the BluesTalk Forum said this alot.

Every time I've used Hi-Beams (.10-.46) they've felt and sounded great. Since I don't trust my own judgement on such things, I put that down to some psychological thing where I've simply convinced myself that they're superior. Some day I'm going to figure out how to do a scientific 'blind test' of different string brands but until I can get my hands on several guitars that are identical in appearance and spec I'm not sure how to do it.

Even if the effect is psychological rather than them being *objectively* better than a five quid set of Fenders or Boomers, that might be enough to make me play better so yeah...a thumbs-up from me too.

I've used DR's for years after a bass player of mine got me into them. I agree with the others in that I can't give a good reason to use them other than that they just feel better, but I don't think people who swear by Slinky's or D'Addario's are using any harder science than that.

I used to always use the Tite-Fit 10's. Then I switched to the Pure Blues 10's because my guitars are pretty old and have tiny frets.

Interesting...can you explain the connection?

Cheers,
