I think this may be happening to me.

Got my Classic Player Jaguar about a year ago; instantly loved it and assumed our love would last forever.

However, since then I have acquired a Mustang and a Super-Sonic (both for much less than the Jag), and I find myself playing these two far more. The 'Stang is my go-to low-output single coil guitar, whilst the Super-Sonic (with split coil Dragonfire Screamers) satisfies my humbooger rawk needs.

I just don't know how the Jag fits into my grand scheme of things anymore. I'm asking myself if I can justify having £500-worth of guitar sitting largely unplayed when it could be on eBay.

Have you ever questioned your Jag?

Somebody please say something to make it all OK.

I have fits and spurts of favouring one guitar over the others, but there are certain guitars (step forward, gold Tokai strat) that I've regretted getting rid of. Keep the Jag, Jags are lovely.

Well, I'm afraid I'm questioning my stang over a Jag. I have a jazzmaster, and a KC mustang. Although I love the neck on my mustang, I just can't shake the desire for a jag. As the jm gets way more play than the mustang, I'm considering a chop

Use what works for you... nothing else matters, leave it a couple of weeks.... if you still feel the same then get rid, enjoy the money.

I recently built a telemaster thinking it'd be the perfect guitar for me... I found my jag was far more suited and I sold it on. No regrets at all.

Trust your instincts, they're normally right.

I had enough of my Jag and got rid. Too much finickiness and bad memories for me. It wasn't a CP though, which I imagine is a lot easier.

I don't own any special or vintage guitars and don't hold attachments so in my opinion if it's a bog standard CP Jag they're ten-a-penny. If you want to try something new you're sitting on £500. You can always buy another Jag later on. Keeping your excitement in playing fresh is more important than holding onto an unplayed guitar.

My main guitar has recently become an Encore Strat copy I bought at Cash Converters for £30 about a year and a half ago. I have other considerably more expensive and supposedly 'better' guitars, but recently this one just feels right. It has made me reconsider things like my Baja Tele, but then again not so long ago that was my number one guitar. Everyone just goes through phases.

I always thought I wanted a Jag, but I've had enough of those to know that a really nice Mustang is the ultimate short scale in my mind.

You have 3 very different guitars and the Jaguar is very versatile.

I recently got rid of my Musicmaster that I built, but I had two Mustangs and all three guitars covered the sounds. Even if you are not playing it at the moment, I would hold onto the Jaguar because it sounds nothing like the Mustang or the Super-sonic.

As new guitars come in a out of the fold, the older ones always get pushed aside for a while, but you will come back to her eventually.

If you get to the point you have no love for the Jaguar, then you might consider selling it. Make yourself play the Jaguar so you remember why you loved it so much.

I got that way with my black Jaguar special and sold it... and regretted it. I wasn't drawn to it as much as I thought I should be, but I missed it when it was gone. I now have a VWH one that I will hold on to no matter what. Even if I don't play it all the time, I know I would miss it if it were gone. Plus it is a thing of beauty. I can always get more money if I need money. Yeah there is other guitars out there as well, but this one is MINE.

There was a time all i used was Jags (had about 6 of them) but things change, you start playing different music in different bands that it isn't really suited to and so on. No guitar can cover all needs. I get how you feel, i rarely pic my Jag up now, i find the simplicity of Teles works good for me at the moment especially in the band situation.

Dont get rid of it though, its in a cycle and it will come back round.

Damn.. Same shit happened to me. I had a real nice classic player candy apple red jag with a mint green pickguard, really nice, and an hh hardtail jag. I sold them both and regret it especially the candy apple red one. Now I want to buy a new one.. Haha so I'm just gonna make one. lol

That sounds ridiculous.

I lost interest in my jag almost immediately. I love the way they look and sound, but I can't stand the feel of them. Same thing happened with a mustang that I used to have.

I had one about 6 years ago and didn't get on with it so traded it for some other stuff. I feel I should give them another try.

I'm going away for most of July and August so I think I'll wait and see how I feel when I come back to it.

My gut feeling is that I'll probably part from it at some stage. I've got my eye on one of these Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmasters that are coming out, and I'm watching a Squier Cylone that I want to buy and mod to fuck. I've also got an Epi Les Paul (with SD pups) and and a Squier Tele Custom (with P-90s) - so I've absolutely no need for so many guitars.

Edit: will probably also sell the Squier Tele and stick a P-90 in the Cyclone, if and when I get one.

I've had my Jag Classic less than a year and the same thing happened to me. I played it until I burned out on it and didn't touch it again until a couple of weeks ago. Now it''s all I think about when I'm at work or while I'm lying in bed at night. I just can't wait to get my hands on her again, and as soon as I finish writing this that is exactly what I'll do. This happens to me with all of my guitars at some point. My playing and what I am able to create is different with each guitar. It's like each guitar has it's own song or message that I have to pull out of it, so I never get rid of any of them.

I just modified my Jag to sound how I wanted it to, and loved it again.

Stick with it. Your love will return! I came very close to buying a third Jaguar today!

This is what I'm trying to do once I get my dole monies next week. I loved the pickups on a IBM AVRI Jaguar I played.

So hopefully a pair of them will make my Jaguar amazing again.
