What color should I paint this Ric 450? I painted it black because it had been black, but I decided later it doesn't have to stay that way. I saw a great Seafoam 360 on OSG--but with a white TRC & guard I should stay dark.
The maple is very smooth. The headstock looks bad in this photo, but after I patched and sanded it, I put on a layer of Z Poxy. It is smooth and solid, and back to the original Kluson opening. I left the humbucker holes so I could put in Gibson HBs. I am using the proper truss rod cover, but not the R tailpiece. Instead I got an Accent vibrato. Of course, a true pawn shop guitar uses parts from all brands. Maple is strong, so the body is thinner than you might expect. Without hardware, it's very lightweight. Maybe maple is too bright. We shall see. I am going to go with Gibson style wiring: four knobs and done.
