Finished: 68 Pelham SG

After years of sitting on this, I finally got the old bridge posts out and sewed it up. I was fully expecting to toss it on the block right away. I grew up with an SG, so no surprises. But even unplugged, it has a great ring. Maybe it's the setup, or I was feeling exuberant from having it done. I will give it some time and try again.
Meanwhile when I plugged it in, it was like when I first tried an amp. I may have been laughing. Realize that I don't hear it until it's strung. I test the solders, but it's not the same as playing. So part of the payoff is sheer relief to have it work.
At the same time, I have not had mini HBs before. I bought one of these from Pacafeliz a few years ago and was waiting for the right guitar. It has the feel of a dirt bike, that's light and sprinty. The pickups aren't as muddy as my old SG used to be. Although I am probably remembering it through my cheapo 1980 Peavey bass amp. You could tip over a dumpster with a G barre. And the Maestro is much less cumbersome than a Bigsby, or even a Mosrite vibrato.
The Pelham is a nice look, although I went heavy with tinting. Truth told, I prefer blocks to dots. Also the cavity cover doesn't line up with two of the holes. But overall, it's pretty wicked. I may have to rethink this. And yes, the lab looks ransacked. I get that way toward the end sometimes.
