Played the Fender Pawn Shop Reverse Jag bass yesterday

It had the exact problems that I could tell just from the pictures that it was going to have.

It looked cool, but just the way that the body looks I could tell it was going to have horrible neck dive and it did, so bad that it was seriously uncomfortable to play. Also the bottom horn jutted out so far that it made reaching the upper frets impossible. It was incredibly heavy, even compared to most Stingrays that I've played. I didn't even plug it in because I hated the way it played so much. Also the fact that it's $800 and doesn't seem to be any better in quality than the squier CV or VM series.

I also picked up the Modern player tele bass which felt really nice, but I didn't plug it in because I didn't want to like it. It was $549 and felt just like a CV or VM squier, so I felt like it should have been one of those at a better price.

That makes me so sad. I imagine it sells terribly, then Fender says "ugh we tried 32" scale in america n it didnt work" and then they never release another one and I suffer endlessly with 30" or 34" basses. Fuck everything I hate the whole universe. Im going to kill myselfnmeflknwfeefw

The knobs look like they were pinned there by a blindfolded child at a crap party.

Things that could have made this bass not stupid:

- Not fucking sunburst again, godamnit!
- Super Sonic type neck joint (you got it right the first time around, WTF??)
- Contour the shit out of that intrusive upper butt portion
- How about a metal control plate? It IS a Jaguar, no?
- A rosewood fretboard would go a long way at making this thing not look like an expensive hunk of floatsam.

I was asked by the manager if we should get one in and I said no, I don't approve of reverse Fenders really... but mainly I knew it'd be 'mare to sell.

i wonder how those pups sound. I usually play Ibanez basses because i REALLY like the PFR buckers they use on the SRX series. The Passive EMG's are okay i guess... theyve pretty much discontinued the SRX series so Im stuck with the SRA series EMG's on my 5 string. If they made a 5 string jazz or P bass with those pups that would be interesting to try..

I tried to play one of those SRX basses the same day at guitar center. It had a problem with the input jack so I couldn't test it. I did try out this one though:

Normally not my style, but I'm in need of an ultra-lightweight bass these days. I've been playing in a cover band with two of the guys from my original band to make some extra money on weekends, and every place we play wants us to play a 4 hour set. My p bass and rickenbacker are both killing my shoulders and back during these sets. I actually was really surprised with this ibanez bass. Crazy lightweight and only $349! It also sounded really good!

As for the jaguar bass pups. I didn't plug it in because I hated the way it felt so much, but the demo they released for it when they first announced it had the bass sounding pretty terrible.

For real, that demo reminds me of a decent 6-string player's first day with a bass guitar.

I've got an SRA505 and i like it a lot... id like it even better if they had stuck in some PFR's instead of the EMG's

exactly, they didn't even try to get a decent bass player and that's the official demo!

As an lefty, upside down Jagmaster user I can understand the neckdive complaints, but I've found a decent strap can make a hell of a lot of difference.

But I don't really like the look of these basses. If they're gonna go for a reverse body, they NEED to offer better upper fret access. Unless they just expect us lefties to buy it.

Oh reverse Jag bass, how I wanted to love you...

I played it a couple of weeks ago, admittedly only sat down but it did have a tendency to head floorwards at the slightest opportunity. I also played the Roger Waters P-Bass which has a lovely fat neck and a brass nut.
