I can't think why anyone would do that...certainly no reason that could justify making it impossible to intonate the strings accurately. Weird.

Looks like a cut down version of one of those pieces of crap bridges you get on crap Kay guitars.

I just noticed: are the strings fitted wrong as well? I thought they were threaded through the stopbar from the headstock end and wrapped under?

They are strung incorrectly. If the seller can't string the guitar or put the proper bridge on the guitar, what else is wrong with it? You notice the seller does not have a buy option, only trade.
It makes me think the seller is either totally ignorant about Mustangs or is trying to score a sweet trade on a faked vintage Mustang.
There is some finish checking on the nut and the tuners appear vintage. I wonder if someone found a bunch of vintage parts, made or refined the body. The funny part about the back of the body is there is no buckle rash.

Is that even the correct shade of white for a vintage Mustang? It should be more yellowed because of the nitro finish. That looks like Alpine White like you see on a Squier Super-Sonic.
There is absolutely no checking in the body finish. It looks flat almost like no gloss or satin finished.
Maybe I should contact the seller and offer to trade my
Squier Pink Hello Kitty Guitar? If he complains my offer isn't realistic, I can at least say my guitar is all original.

Seems odd also he isn't selling, only trading? Like maybe he has tried to sell it before but was told to suck it or something.

That's not always a given with a genuinely worn finish, some have it, some don't. The checking doesn't always happen either - especially as quite a few Fender custom colours were never nitro.
It looks like it is a vintage guitar, and a fairly early one at that, but far from original. The chips out of the finish are in really daft places, where you would never get them naturally.
It's not worth the same as a Les Paul, nowhere near.

Yep! Got the exact same bridge on a crappy Kay i was given. Very odd why someone would ever use one as a replacement.
