My mom bought me an Affinity Tele, and I was wondering if I could just throw a baritone conversion neck on it and some Bass VI strings.

I definitely want E-E tuning, no weird stoner/Tool crap.

hmm, I'm not sure I understand the point of having a baritone if you don't want to go below standard tuning.

E-E on a Bass VI is one octave below guitar tuning.

anywayz... yeah it might work. I've gotten 25.5" scale down to A-A with a 7 string set (minus the smallest string) so I imagine a baritone with bass VI strings would give you a similar drop in tuning.

I imagine I'd need some thick strings to make it work, which could be weird since Affinities aren't string though. I might have to widen the bridge's string holes? I'm seeking guidance.

I haven't seen the guitar IRL yet. It might be a Squier standard, but I doubt it.

I've done it and it works like a charm - Allparts necks will do the job lovely. I don't tune down to E-E, since chords sounds better A-A or B-B, but the scale will take it. You shouldn't even need to drill out the tuners. Thread here, shout if I can help.

• Turns my guitar into a six string bass

I have no idea what size frets I want from this Warmoth menu.

That will take E-e for sure. I have a baritone Jag that came in that tuning and was fine. Drop D sounds awesome

Warmoth says you don't.

Reckon Allparts would be cheaper, but that's a very pretty neck. 6105 frets are very nice, too. Get them to install the nut for you, if that's an option; that bit was a pain in the arse (took me two goes).

You could finish it with butter. Or Troo Oil. If you had to spray (the back) you could get some Minwax from HD for$5. It's easier than vandalism. Necks take the least effort of anything. Wet sand with baby oil. Water isn't a great lube.

I was just wondering last night what note a seventh string would be tuned to. I was thinking B, and it looks like that's the standard. There are times when a few extra low notes would be nice.

If it's from Warmoth, will it not take them months and months to make it?

Tune it to A and you have SLIPKNOT MOTHER FUCKER tuning + a high e!
