Hey. So I added another project even though I have enough.. But I managed to do all of this in a matter of four days while I'm waiting on paint for the Jag-Stang 2.0 and the Mustang Offset, being lazy about the gibson marauder, more lazy about refinishing my musiclander neck, and just don't have the money and parts for the musiclander right now lol.
So I found a Baja Strat Copy guitar in the trash and looked it over and it seemed like it was in a pretty good condition. Once I took it apart it looked even more promising so I decided what the hell I'll make an HH out of it and do it up real nice and give it to the guitarist in my band. I have a shitload of spare parts that weren't getting used for anything else. So it wouldn't cost me a dime.
The body on this is extremely light. I'm thinking it's probably pine or something. The paint isn't in too bad of condition so i kept it. The neck was actually pretty nice but I have a Fender neck laying around so I might use that.
All the hardware is nice enough for me. The pots weren't bad and the humbucker was alright.
So I took it apart..

I knew the first thing it needed was a input jack plate. So I got to work making a little tape template on the body after I lined it up and traced a strat rout I had. I think it's pretty convenient sharpieing on the guitar your template and then tape around it so when your routing it will be on the tape and wont scratch the guitar and you just stay inside the tape.

It came out good and it fit perfect.

Next I needed to do the pickguard. This is what scared me cus I only did two before but those were both 2 years ago and I didn't plan it out. So I took extreme measures this time lol. I traced the bridge and then cut it out and lined it up where I wanted it. Next I screwed it to two boards to make it sturdy leaving a gap. Then I went at it with the router and a little bit of good sanding and I couldn't believe how perfect I got it.

For the pickup selector I just went with a three way les paul style and threw it in where a normal strat switch would be and put on three knobs to see how it would be. Looking good.

So next I drilled the hole from the jack rout to the main rout and painted the wood black cus of OCD..

Then I made the template for the neck pickup rout using my same method and routed that as close as I could get it to the bridge rout.

I didn't wire it. I'll have my guitarist do that. He's crazy in to electrical. So I put it back together and everything fit perfect. I fitted it with Dean Zebra humbuckers and two volumes, and a tone with a pullshaft. Hopefully that Fender neck will fit on it now. Just have to find it.. lol. If not it still looks bad ass like a blacktop strat. Pretty awesome for something I found in the trash.
