seriously, if you guys want a starcaster/starblaster but don't have the cash, DO NOT write off this guitar.
anyways...
Next up was the jag, i tried plugging it in....and nothing.....
we tried switching cables, amps, played with all the switches, etc.
so we opened it up, one of the anemic little cables wrapped around the input jack and was not allowing the input to connect. after fixing that (new pots will go in, and likely some wire that won't cause annoyances) I tried it out with some random traynor.
this guitar is AMAZING for the money, pulls off surf tones, great garage tones, good overdriven stuff, basically it does EXACTLY what a jag should do. I was thinking of pulling the pickups, but they really are good. I will likely take the sjag2 that I have, and put it right beside the bridge pickup, using the rhythm circuit to control it (because i have NO use for the rhythm circuit). the bridge is bad, there is no way around it, it feels like the shitty stock bridge from the sx sjms. it is an easy fix, but well worth it IMO, it was the one thing that annoyed me as i was playing.
the neck feels more "modern" than my 77ish music master, but it is still comfortable. i really am not a great person to ask for neck info, as i will basically play whatever is in front of me without much trouble, it isn't hard when you basically just flog away when playing, lol. It isn't too heavy, maybe i just got a good one, but watch out for stripped screw holes, basswood is always troublesome for it.
Being me, i couldn't leave it alone, and started throwing some parts on it. here is the trem rout, note the lack of ground wire, and rear corners that are not squared off, this will get fixed eventually, but I am having too much fun with it right now, and it really isn't causing me much trouble.

after putting in a blacktop bridge and AVRI trem (not required, but i have spares, it will get a stay trem soon, but i can't get the stock collet out), i decided to try out a new pick guard i got from a fellow osg/hc member (fits good with some tweeking), and throw on some 12's to replace the 9's that were on it. now it looks like this...

so where does it go from here? I have a maple mustang neck getting refretted, and i have to track down some new pickup covers and a claw so I can wire in the second bridge pick up, but there is plenty of time for that.
Cheers
