So I've been eyeing one of these for quite some time, but have kinda been holding out for the hope that the limited edition Pelham Blue version may arrive in stock at some point.... which isn't going to happen. The majority if not all get distributed into the US, according to Gibson... and they're all gone until they decide to (if & when) ever produce them again.

So, I went for the next best choice... in Black. Seeing all the other colours sell out in my shop I decided now was the time. Been having troubles getting credit (mobile phones !!) and the lack of credit history, I decided to take this out on finance to start building up a history for myself for the future.

Sadly I wasn't able to take it home yesterday as the credit took a while to clear but got an email this morning saying all was good. I'm not back at work until wednesday when I'll be able to take it away.

Highly recommend these, despite not being a big Epiphone fan !! They're so much more comfortable than a 335 and have coil taps on each pickup which is a big bonus. I put it side by side with the Gibson, and the pickups were more to my taste in the Epi.

Congrats on the NGD, I definitely want the Gibson version of one of these one day as I'm too small for 335s.

They sound great, twats in the video weren't as twatty as usual either so that's a bonus. These definitely seem like a solid buy.

Picking it up tomorrow, can't wait to try it through my gear.

Somehow I always find Epiphones hollow-bodys to be much nicer than the rest of their line.

I've had my eye on the ES-style archtops since forever but, like you, the sheer size of a 335 puts me off. I'm so short and wimpy I don't think it would be comfortable, especially since I don't stand up while playing very often.

The Epis only go for around £300 from new so I'm considering picking one up in the new year. That was until those Squier Jags came out. But still. I'd like to hear the views of someone who actually owns the Epi 339 and can say for sure if it's as versatile and musical as I hope it is.

Yep, I always get the impression that it's what they're set up to do, and all the other stuff is just filling up the Gibson portfolio for the sake of it. I think that's just a notion I have based on the fact that they have some excellent hollowbodies and archtops that aren't Gibson, though.

The 339 is the slightly larger 335 isn't it?

It's a Les Paul-sized ES basically.

I'm interested to know because i recently got an older MIK Dot and whilst its nice and that i'm a Fender boy forever.

Ahh it's preference, I'm only 5' 8" but I play a 16" thinline. I think the main thing is how high you wear the guitar on a strap. I think the smaller guitars are a bit more like a solid body, but I think they're a nice idea.

Can't really handle them myself... not without looking like I'm 9 years old, anyway. Still want a Casino but I'd have to draw the blinds to play it.

I have some fascination with finding the ultimate hollow body tonez. The old Aria Pro II TA models are heading the stakes for me at the moment.

Like others have said, it does really feel like a hollowbody les Paul ... Real nice !!

It sounds warm and articulate, very pleased I got it now. I reckon the build quality on your MIK Dot would make it worth keeping. The attention to detail on these China made Epi's are lower, at least cosmetically if nothing else.

I've gotta disagree. I'm 6'0" and my 333 is extremely comfortable.

I think he was half-joking/exaggerating. 6 foot tall is rather famously a bit taller than average though, before you declare ES's fits-all fare.

Very nice. I like the idea of that.

That Ibanez Artcore I got of Reece is about Les Paul sized (and shaped). I love it.
