NAD - Orange Micro Terror

Goddammit I have a problem. I went by the only decent music store on the west side of Puerto Rico to pick up a 12AU7 tube to try and tame one of my Kustom Defenders (BTW, it worked perfectly. The Kustom now has lots more clean headroom and takes pedals like a boss). While I was waiting in line, I saw that they had an Orange Micro Terror on the floor, so I grabbed a guitar and cranked it. Yeah... I have a weak spot, and the amp and tube went home with me (after negotiating, because the salesman didn't want to let it go without the cab).

First impressions - Orange seriously has made this the perfect travel amp. Not only is it tiny, but it comes with a 100-240v/50-60hz power adaptor, and US, EU, UK, and AUS plugs. I might bring this along for any shows I have in the French islands and former British territories (who use Europlugs and UK plugs).

This is a cheeky little bastard. Playing it through my 2 Kustom 1x12 cabs in parallel, it's quite crunchy, with pretty focused mids, and a tight low end. What surprised me though is that backing off on the gain, it's got a very pretty clean tone as well - not Fender or Vox clean, but a very pretty tone of its own. I'm considering bringing this with my to my office and using it as a headphone amp for days when I've got nothing else to do. This is a very good little amp.

I'm going to likely open it up this weekend.

Oh, and pics, cause without them it didn't happen.

Very cool, and if it sounds half way decent, then it's a cool asmp for the price. Do fancy a tiny terror though

Somebody should totes do a proper Orange head sleeve for this. If only to give it some weight so it doesn't just fall off things all the time.

Oh, that really is small. It's funny, it the photos it looks like the CostCo card is massive and that the amp takes some sort of special gigantic guitar leads.

I really really like these, especially through a larger 12" cab or more. I would have one if I had a cab already. Great little things.

I'll be using it for a show on Thursday through a single mic'd 1x12 cab.

And the bass player and other guitar player are also using Orange amps. We should get endorsed.

The tubes in my hot rod died the day before we took the trip to London to play a couple of shows. I love this little thing but I in no way expected results from it. However, it totally did the trick (8" inch cab and all ;) albeit mic'd but still...). It's my go to practise amp (and main amp right now since the HR is yet to be collected) and I love this little thing.

Totes. I'd buy no less than two.

YES. I have a carpenter friend who I might bug to make me one. It depends on how the amp looks after a few gigs.

Hybrid. Tube in the preamp and a 20W IC amplifier.

The amp's at our rehearsal space at the moment, and I wasn't planning on picking it up until tomorrow before I drove down to San Juan for our show. So.. err, how about I'll get back to you on that? :D

It's tempting me to get it. But I think an matching Orange 2x12 is even better, so I'm putting the $100 I'd spend on the cab towards my 2x12 fund.
