I have the toggle plate from my Kurt Jazzy and the three hole Jag plate and upper plate. This is going to be my goal for her:

I already put a mini On/On toggle in the middle hole between where the 1meg volume and tone will go. It will be a coil splitter for the humbuckers. The Rollers will be both 500k and be connected to both pickups so I have the option to play with 1meg or 500k's. I am keeping the TOM on it most likley. The cut switch and rhythm switch are white On/On switches. Going to dowel the stop tail and add a normal trem route.

Pickups are PAF and Super Distortion from my Cobain Jazzy project.

Nice they aren't badly priced either. And you do awesome work man. Especially your paintjobs. Would you be interested in painting my musiclander?

Thanks for the compliment. :) My finishes aren't factory or anything, but I do take my time and go for the best I can do which has been pretty good.

It would be fun to paint your guitar. What color where you thinking?

Stil not sure. I think candy apple red and Dakota red were the most popular for swingers but I really like lake placid blue too.

Cool. :D

I got paint today for this body. This amount should (SHOULD) be enough to do the whole thing as long as I avoid any oops moments. :)

Thanks to my little son for loaning me one of his cars to help me color match the green. :)

The body came today. The paint finish wasn't as bad as the pictures I was given seemed. It was blue. It looked pretty nice actually aside from some runs on the front and back.

There was some very dry tape in the pickup areas and neck pocket.

Took her out to the garage when kids went down to nap and got to work stripping the body.

The front took two hours. There is still sealer I need to sand off.

Image

The back took fourty-five minutes. (Go figure. LOL)

Still need to do the edges, but I will save that for tomorrow. Kids woke up and my hands and wrists are worn out from scraping. LOL

Tuners came in!

I will use my Jazzmaster template to draw out the tremolo space once I get the body sanded and stop tail holes doweled.

The body is done being stripped. I just need to finish hand sanding all the remaining crap (sealer and paint bits) before I can work on filling those stop tail holes and getting a normal tremolo routed.

The sides are sanded and smooth all the way around. My wife is getting me some sandpaper for my palm sander to do the front and back. I did the sides all by hand.

I glued dowels in to the stop tail holes. Once the glue dries I will cut them flat to the body. When I sand the top it will give me the chance to sand it nice and flat. I also used my template to mark about where the trem will go.

Prefer single coils in jags myself but loving the detailed pictures in this thread. Makes me want to start something up my self but know I haven't really got the time.

I have two traditional Jaguars. This one will be for my humbucker needs. :) I just used a flexible saw to cut the dowels more flat to the body. When I sand, they should end up nice and smooth.

Lookin good my man. At first it definitely didnt look good in the first picture of the black body but lovin where it is going. Nice find. Where did you find it btw? ebay? Also how much do them F tuners go for? I was debating on getting them for the musiclander build.

I think the F tuners were $40 on ebay brand new. I got the body for free. A forum buddy was trying to paint it and threw in the towel and sent it to me for free. He got a different body to use and kept everything else. :)

It is coming along well. It was a super lucky deal since I had all those Jaguar parts and humbuckers from my Cobain style Jazzmaster but nothing to put them on. :)

Damn man you are lucky!
How are you filling in the stop bar holes? I know you said dowel but wont that be close to the trem?

The dowels end up being right next to where the tremolo will be. They aren't where any screws go and are glued in to the body, so I think they will be ok. :)

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a tremolo rout.

Image
DSC05266 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr

First I drilled a bunch of holes to help clear out some of the wood. (I drilled 1.25 inches down so I wouldn't accidentally go too deep.)

Image
DSC05262 by Hentai No Baka, on Flickr

I routed the upper layer with my bit and then lowered it to 1 3/8 to get it to the correct depth.

Not bad for eye ball routing! (I have bad luck with templates so I just do it by eye.) I used a chisle to sharpen the lower corners.
