Musiclander Replica Build

Sooo the mission is to build a swinger as close as i can to an original.
I had cooterfinger make me another body and he does such great jobs.
He put in the bass 5 routs as well. He is also making me a pearloid pickguard
that he's aging a bit and shielding plates. Since fender makes no 22.5 necks
anymore I used the closest thing I could find, a mini strat neck that's 22.75 I
wont have to cut up a vintage neck this way. I sent that to him and he's true
oiling the neck and cutting it/reshaping the headstock, then refinishing it with a
Fender logo i had that matches the original perfectly. I bought a 70's duosonic
bridge and I'm probably going to use a stock mustang neck pickup.

I don't know what color I want to paint it. Something that's popular for them and it
seems that Dakota Red and Candy Apple Red are the most common and look the
nicest. But I also really like Fiesta red ones but I don't know yet.. Here's a few pics..

What would be a really good sounding pickup for this that I can hide under one of the mustang pickup covers?

Aged pickguard and plate by punkacc9, on Flickr

Just needs some more coats of clear coat. The guard is done. It's aged a bit and cooterfinger made me an extra control plate. I'm going to use a mustang plate but I think this would be cool to have if I got bored of it.

The finish on that headstock looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing the whole thing.

It was custom made by a guy that use to make them on ebay. I still got his email. I actually had two 1970 musicmaster decals made and cut fender off the one and used it for this. Turns out they are the same logo.

I dig. I'd love to see a Swinger with just a middle pickup.

Yeah. That would be cool. I just always wanted a real swinger but don't have enough money, nor do I want to spend that much money for one lol. So I'm just gonna build one as close as I can to an original.

Yeah. It just takes a while. Anything over $60.00 isn't really worth it. All depends on HOW much you want it.
