Musician's Friend has the Free Fuzz on sale for $30, if anyone's interested and haven't seen it yet.

THIS ONE:

I picked up one of the older ones a few years ago at GC for $25 and I absolutely hated it. Part of me thinks I just didn't give it a chance because I played it for about 5 minutes and then put it back in it's box.
The other part of me says if a two knob pedal can't impress me in 5 minutes, it's not good. :)

I've been gassing for some fuzz recently, though doubt the orange will take any fuzz well.

I'd agree with that except to say that some pedals are fantastic with certain amps and average at best with others. I don't think that necessarily makes them bad pedals but it creates an opportunity to come to that conclusion.

I tried it with a Soldano Astroverb, Korg/Vox AC30, and a '85 JCM 800 2203 just for reference.
It may sound better with other amps. On mine I hated it and, of course, that's my personal taste.

I've definitely had pedals that just sounded bad regardless of what setup I've tried, and I didn't mean to say you didn't try enough with this one. I've just had pedals before where they were underwhelming until used with a certain type of amp.

There's a pedal that's a particularly good example, I think it's the OCD. Use it with a Marshall and it's an alright overdrive pedal, nothing special. Use it with a Fender and there's not much that tops it.

No worries. Just wanted to state what amps I tried it with. I went through a box of pedals and found this one. Guess I never got rid of it. Still in the box. I'll have to give it another try.

It's a decent silicon fuzz face clone ....nothing revolutionary

I'm still sore over that.
