Jag-Stang Project FINISHED Pg. 6

Post by HNB »

I picked up a Jag-Stang body. It is two piece alder with a swimming pool rout. It was made by TK Custom Guitars. I couldn't pass it up for the price I got it for second hand.

Thinking of doing this Metallic K. O.

Picture!

I saw that and thought it was a great deal.

Metallic K. O.? Is that Metallic Kandy Orange?

Basically I am going to do it the same color as this Jaguar I painted. :)

Metallic K.O. is what they were calling the Marr Jaguar color although I think they now call it Candy Apple Rust. It is supposed to look like CAR does when it is super old and faded. :)

Oh and people thought Metallic K.O.'s name was a tribute from Johnny to this album:

How many projects do you have going concurrently? I would be happy to finish my one project. That color is similar to the Johnny Marr Jaguar.

I just heard about the company. What is the quality of the build? They also make shortscale necks that look pretty awesome.

Never used them before. When it comes I will know more. It is a two piece body and they use a CNC machine so it should be fine. With my Music Master neck, I will be able to figure out if it has a US or Japanese pocket. :)

How is this body? I ordered a mustang from him before and the thimble routs were off. I was actually the one who gave him this JS template though lol..

Not sure. It hasn't arrived yet. It is going in the mail to me tomorrow. ;) What do you mean the thimbles were off? Too high, too low, too close together, too far apart?

This guy and this guy had an ok time with his bodies. They are Mustangs, but the trem placement and such should be the same.

In that second pic it does look like the body's thimble holes are off in relation to the plate.

Maybe. Could be placement. I might drill it for TOM under the plate so it could be fine. I will know more when the body arrives. I will also need to pick up a Mustang tremolo as well.

Well... if I have that problem, sending it back isn't an option. LOL It is used (second hand). I am sure I can fix it fine, I will just have to check it before I do any painting so that if I need to dowel and redrill, I do it before I get in to painting. :)

Yeah man. I know you will be fine. You do good work. You should put some jazzmaster pickups in it. That would be cool. I never seen a JS with a pickguard that is part of the control plate either. Just some ideas :)

I am a sucker for the Jag-Stang. So many people don't like it, but I really do. I don't know why, it just feels good to me. It has chunks in my favorite spots. :)

The only thing I really don't like about them is the switches. This won't have them, so I should be good. :)
