Played some Jazzmasters - I like

Post by Zeezee »

So i recently played some Classic Players and the Squier J Mascis. After many goes, i've decided the CP in black is the one for me. The reason behind all this is that, as much as i love my 5 year old CP 60s strat, i don't use the 2nd 3rd and 4th positions - i don't do quack. I also prefer a 3 way toggle on the lower horn, but still want a whammy bar.

I found a great example of the J Maz (dark fretboard, solid build), but something about the neck/frets was strange (i do like a satin neck though), but something just felt weird. Oh and i didn't really like the pop in/out arm, not very secure.
The CPs however sounded great, but all had minor little things which bothered my OCD, an oddly spaced/wonky tuner, oddities RE the fretboard, rattling low E (couldn't locate the rattle). I'm super anal regarding workmanship of a guitar, so i didn't walk out with one, but i know i've found my next guitar.

Anyhoo, if anyone London-based wants to trade a their black CP Jazzmaster for a Sonic Blue CP 60s strat.... My search will continue until i find a satisfactory example of one.

It sounds like the vibrato arm wasn't pushed in all the way. It takes quite a bit of force, clicks in, and is totally secure.
