Finally got around to making a demo of this. Such a great guitar.

Should also serve as a nice example of what a Mustang sounds like, seen few threads asking for this recently

Love it. I saw one on the bay the other day with a comp orange paintjob that was painted over to lake placid at the Fender factory. I really wanna get one of these. Know anyone selling?

Sounds nicer than that reissue Mustang you had (going by the demos that is). A bit more life to it seems.

I've got the kurtdz sig that looks identical save for the jb. I was playing it all weekend due to the jag bridge making me want to beat someone to death. Love it to bits. The kurtdz has quite a chunky neck also. Mustangs are indeed much fun to play.

Nice distortion are those low out put? Not that I know shit about pickups. Newbie here gets the most K's for my money.

Mike just does the best Mustang Demos. I have been hoping you would demo that guitar. When I demo Fender student models, I make the guitar look so tiny.

I am amazed how clean the guitar is. The competition Mustangs from 1969-1972 are kinda the apex of the Mustangs for me. The colors, stripes, contours...just the epitome of cool.

Those pickups sound really cool. You just can't beat aged pickups. Fantastic.

Mike, how is the output on those pickups? Do you have to use a saltbooster in a live/gig setting?

My post was going to be pretty much identical. Glad I got my KC, and I'm definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for a vintage one.

Nice 'Bled White' in there. That thing looks like a reissue it is so clean. I would love one if I could find a deal on one. Ever since I got my Coronado vintage Fenders are even more appealing -- I don't like the necks on new guitars as much now.

Those Coronado necks will ruin you on other necks because you want every guitar neck to feel like that.

Yeah the pickups are low output for sure, I'd say on a par with my '66 Jaguar, but that's the way I like 'em. I'm even thinking of changing the pickups in the Squier Jaguar for more mellow ones, maybe Antiquities or something.

I just like the way low output pickups sound, and I'm not a high gain merchant or anything. I don't use a Saltbooster live, just turn up my amp.

I don't know how I missed this demo. It sounds amazing Mike. Loving the crunch tonez. Lovely bit of E.S. too. AFAIK he used to use a Mustang too in the studio.

Yeah it's on the XO cover. I read an old interview where they were talking about the gear he uses and he was gushing about the sound of the Mustang. It might be on Sweetadeline.net.

Cobasis, I think he always played live with the ES-335 when he was doing full band stuff, but he used to play all sorts in the studio to get the sounds he wanted - Telecasters and Mustangs apparently got lots of use.

Lovely guitar & lovely demo....kudos. I've never managed to wrestle sounds this nice out of a mustang (although I've only ever played reissues). If I could make one sound this nice, I'd pick one up in a heartbeat....maybe I need to investigate a vintage one if I ever happen across one at the right price.
