So this just popped up on my suggested items on ebay. It looks to be clone of a Voodoo Labs PP2. Pretty interesting.

Going to buy one... they are 90$ on ebay. Half the price of a voodoo labs with 2 more outputs. No brainer

That was my thinking, I'm going to be redoing my pedalboard set up and hoping to get a few more pedals so an isolated power supply should help keep the noise down.

I've been looking for a deal on a decent, reliable PSU for yonks. I've had two of those cheap Powerbank ones die on me for no apparent reason and it's made me reluctant to shell out a lot on a fancier one. I'd be very interested to hear how these things fare in the long term. The older one (JP-01) looks more or less the same except for ergonomics and is only £30-odd. Might be worth a suck it and see.

Apparently the JP01 is just a Dunlop DC brick clone. Although I don't think that the 01 model is fully isolated.

Ah, right. I thought there'd be a reason for the extra £££s. Might still go for the Brick clone - looks like decent value for money, and I can't say I've ever noticed any great problems using an unisolated supply.

What's the big deal with the isolation exactly?

You can power positive ground (Ge tonebenders, fuzz faces, EHX nano series) and negative ground (everything else) pedals off the same daisy chain or power supply.

ive always used a one spot but been experiencing some REALLY nasty hum issues at gigs recently. im not a massive tone freak at all either but it has been really bad.

ive been looking at voodoo labs and the trex one but just cant justify spending all that money on a power supply!

Thing is, the T-Rex and Voodoo supplies are REALLY, REALLY GOOD. They're not fragile disposable things and are versatile enough to power all kinds of pedals. They aren't cheap, but it's not like you're ever really going to stop using them, either, so they do end up making sense.

I'm looking squarely at the T-Rex Chameleon at the moment. I like it.

I would have no problem with shelling out for a Voodoo laps if it could power all my pedals. I would have to buy two of them... not paying close to 40 for what I could do with a onespot.... I don't know why anyone would. My board is noisy though so this looks to be a good option.

I wish it had a mains input and a built-in power supply instead of an external one. No doubt that's the reason why it's so cheap and small, but still...

As far as I'm aware you can still daisy-chain pedals from a single output of a Voodoo Labs PP2+, though. As long as you're not pulling more power than that individual outlet can give you're fine. As I understand it those 2+ pedals could still create hum with each other? I have no idea, but I guess that would somewhat defeat the point of the PP2.

Something like a PP2 really is a no-brainer.

Take as many months as it requires to save the cash, and then buy one any throw the regrets away. Vintage Fuzz? Treble Boost? Boss clock noise? None of it...you'll have quiet powering system that won't crap out on you. I've had mine for almost 10 years now, my only complaint being that a toroidal transformer is a heavy piece of hardware to lug around. On the other hand, I've had two One Spots die on me without warning in the past 4 years, with affordability and convenience being replaced by a sigh.

And Cobascis...

I've had good luck doubling up compressors and OD/DS boxes without issue. Relatively low amperage requirements and stable circuitry helped me get a good 11 pedals powered while on tour last year with my PP2.

I got the BBE Supa Charger from HERE. £111 with shipping. Comes with EU plug, but it's a standard kettle lead from the wall to the supply, and I had a spare kicking around so no biggee. Really good supply. Expensive, but not insane. Works on 120v and 240v at the flick of a switch, and has a few different power options. Loads of mA at your disposal for daisy chaining.

i just got one off ebay. it was up at £55.99 with "make an offer" so i plumped one up at £45 and it was accepted. loooooooong ass delivery time (31st oct-6th nov) but it was free so hey ho.

i will report back with results.........

Did anyone buy one of these? If so what's the verdict? I'm thinking it might help with my noisy pedal issue.

yeah and i cant sing its praises enough. ive had mine for almost a year now looking at the comment above, it feels longer. its been gigged and gigged and gigged and not one single issue.

Which pedals were giving you humming issues and did it rectify? I'm guessing from your comment that it did.
