Trying to ID a Jazz Bass

Owner doesn't know a thing about it... it was his son's bass, but his son moved to the states. I woke him up when I called him, so I didn't ask him for more pics. I asked if it was a Fender or a Squier... "yeah, one of those sounds right"

Long story short: It's a jazz bass for $80.

Anyone care to try and identify it? Here's the pic from the listings

For $80, I say get it. I don't think there's been any Squiers with block inlays

Yeah, I can't think of any Squier Jazz Basses with blocks, though Jaguars have them...

On the other hand, the dude sounds kinda sketchy...
EDIT: ah, kid's dad, kinda asleep, sounding less sketchy :P

The only all black Squier Jazz that I found with a VM, but it has pearloid blocks on maple. The natural Squier Jazz VM has black blocks on maple, however, so maybe it's a neck swap. It's still a good deal, Squier VMs kick ass.
