Questions about Jaguar

So I have a few questions about jaguars. For the roller knobs what type mini pots should I buy? I am using three 500k pots for the volume/treble. Should I buy the 50K or the 1Meg? There are two humbuckers going in it. Two GFS vintage humbuckers

Also, I am doing the same control setup as the Cobain Jaguar so what exactly does each switch and knob do? Thanks.

As far as I recall, the rhythm circuit in the Cobain Jag is not modified at all; so it would have 50k pots.

IIRC, the lead controls are vol/vol/tone

The only real difference to the stock scheme is the individual pickup volumes on the lead circuit. The 3-way + basscut is doing the same thing individual on/offs would do but without an "all off" position.

Normally they have a 1meg volume pot and a 50k treble pot in the roller area. The Cobain Jag is the same. (Although he taped that off and didn't use it.)

Would it be worth getting 1 meg pots then or are the 500ks ok?

Kurts jag kept the 1meg pots. It is up to you on the sound you want though. 500k is more standard, but I like humbuckers with 1megs.

Ok. I'll probably keep the 500ks. I have them in everything else. Thanks man. What does the switch do by the toggle on the kurt jag?

His sig doesn't have it.

On his real one, it is the high pass filter like Jaguars usually have. It cuts the bass a bit.

Yup! That makes it funny for it to be one of his sig guitars considering he got it that way. LOL

I've always figured Kurt didn't realize the extent to which it had been modified as he often went on a tirade against stock Mustang bridges and never mentioned Jaguar ones, which for somebody who played like him would be even more annoying. Mascis also didn't realize Jazzmasters didn't come with TOMs until he bought a second one.
