We've been over this sort of thing before on here; it's an amp-emulating preamp, inspired by some other box (Tech21) that costs a stack more but has the option to cut out the speaker emulation, which is permanently "on" with these Joyo-made Harley Benton TrueTone series boxes. Mine was a bro-deal from Gabriel who was having a clear-out to buy a multi-FX.

As I wasn't going to be able to try it for a couple of days, I lent it to a friend, who told me it didn't "have enough bite" for his application. Last night I took it to the rehearsal rooms and used it with their Blackstar Series One 50W head. It transformed the experience. I took some twiddling to find the balance I wanted between the Level, Voice and Gain controls -Voice has significant impact on volume/distortion rather than being EQ, though I haven't had the time to establish whether it affects the EQ as well. It's replaced the Fuzz Face clone, which I use for controllable dirt (rather than all-out fuzz), on the pedalboard, giving me more flexibility and 3-band EQ while being a fair bit less noisy and giving me my bass back. We'll see how it goes with the Marshall JTM60 combo tomorrow night.

(clean the PCB with an old toothbrush and IPA, swap the stock op-amps for TLC2264s) but I'll not worry about that for now.
