Squier VM Jaguar/Jazzmaster/Mustang poll

by James
They've been out for a little while now, and given years of 'I wish Squier would make a...' about all three of these, I'd be interested to see how many people have purchased one and what people think of them now they've been around for long enough to get past a 'honeymoon' period. Everything I've seen following people buying one has been along the lines of 'ridiculously good value', though the Mustang seems a little less favoured.
---
Just to be clear I'm talking about these four (including the JM JM as it came out around the same time)
Not the Strat jack types

I don't have the money, and I probably won't for a while but I'd like a Jaguar at some point.

Ditto, but I'm more interested in the Mustang (and then the Jazzmaster)
My issue is twofold:
1) lack of money
2) my local shops don't bring things like these in so I can test them
If/when #1 clears up, if I get one, it will have to be sight unseen... which kinda worries me with some of the QC reviews I've seen.

I have the JMJM and I think it's a great guitar for the money. Only issue was that the switch crapped out the day after I got it

That's my issue as well. The nearest Fender dealer only NOW got an Excelsior and a pair of Blacktop Jags... so I'm not holding my breath as to when I can see a JMJM or any of the non strat-jack VM types in store.

Yeah, I'm surprised that they brought in an Excelsior (and a Greta, even!), a Blacktop Jag and Jazzmaster, and even a Marauder! That said, I highly doubt the Squier Jags/Jazzes/Mustangs will make an appearance.

Better be quick if you want an Excelsior, they are now discontinued !!

^pretty much that
I DO plan to buy a VM Jazzmaster and swap the neck out for something with vintage radius, likely my MIM Classic 70s Strat neck so as to keep the total cost on par with just buying a Squier and calling it a day.
I've always wanted a Mustang but after a neck swap it would be like buying a used MIJ/CIJ in terms of cost because I don't have any spare 24" vintage style necks around. I am certain I would not get on with the 9.5" radius because it's always been that way with Strats and Teles, just doesn't feel like home. I've also had a TOM on my Jaguar and it just totally robs it of the classic feel/sound, so I'm not into the Mascis (much as I like the look/sound of the guitar, noodly solos on a Fender and even Mascis himself, I already have P90 Gibsons and my JB Jr'd Jaguar).

I nearly bought one yesterday, but as long as I have my AC15 and my Bronco, I can't justify it.

Got a jmjm first, then a vm jag. I keep loving the jmjm more and more. It's probably my top player at the moment. I think the honeymoon period for the jag might be wearing off. It's ace, super value for the money, and has totally turned me onto jags. However, I just don't think it matches up against the jmjm.

I got the JM jazzmaster the Christmas after it came out. Lovely guitar.
I'm planning on getting the jag and/or mustang too. And would have got the jag already if I wasn't stumping up for masters fees this month!
I'm actually thinking about getting some different jazzmaster pickups for the JM (SD antiquities maybe?) and then getting a squier Jag and doing a jazzuar with the JM pickups, which I like in them selves but don't sound 100% what I'm after from a jazzmaster.

JMJM. Its superb for the money in my opinion and I prefer it over the Japanese Jazzmasters I owned in the past.
Tempted to get a Jag or another JM just as a modding guitar but I'm trying to keep the collection of guitars below 10 and cant figure out what to sell to make way for one.

Those figures are pretty sad at the moment.
I thought most here would probably have one, but I guess if you have those models already in Fender/Squier format, then there may not be much clause to own one.

In my head I don't want one. It is cool that people have liked them, but seeing some of the finish inconsistencies and hardware mounting problems some of the people who got them have had, I don't plan to buy one unless I get a chance to play one and end up impressed. The shops near me aren't stocking any of them and I would want the chance to see and play around with one before buying one. That means I will likely just stick with my Japanese Jags, Jazzy, and Mustang.

I've been GASing for a JMJM ever since I saw your demo, but I'd need to play one for myself to decide. I also don't think I can get away with bringing any more guitars home for the moment.

I am also in that same boat. In the last two or three weeks I have picked up the Riviera, Musicmaster, Japanese Jaguar, Epi Jr, Strat, and now a DePinto coming in.

i'm genuinely undecided on these. i'd like a jazzmaster, because i've never had one. everything i've heard points to the mascis JM being the better guitar. however, vintage white is boooooooring. plus, i prefer 24" guitars, and i play my jag constantly. so perhaps a jag would make sense, because i could use it as a no fear gigging guitar and save my '66 for 'safe' gigs. but the thought of having two of the same guitar is boooooring too.
you see my dilemma?
