I love this guitar. Sounded better than a 2000$ martin I picked up and its $500. I don't care that it has a stratbound neck and a synthetic fretboard and sides. Solid spruce top and the preamp sounds incredible.

Looks interesting. I don't really follow the acoustic guitar world much. I remember Sigma Martin which were alright/good but I guess Martin dropped that label?
My favorite acoustic guitar company is Gibson, if you don't count National(resonators).

Nah . they still do them... they may have had a break at some point though, I'm not sure.jcyphe wrote: I remember Sigma Martin which were alright/good but I guess Martin dropped that label?

We (the shop I work for) have had a few of these Mexican Martins where the top has lifted from the sides, probably due to shipping damage but they seem a little prone to it.
So check it over with eagle eyes for any cracks along the seam !!
I too think they sound great, and are well worth the money paid for them.

I think the Sigma name having been dropped by Martin got bought by somebody else and is currently being used. I've got a guitar magazine where the 'brand new' sigmas are reviewed somewhere and I only started buying guitarist once in awhile about 3 years ago so the reboot is fairly recent.
More to the point I own a 000x1ae, got it 2 christmases ago and love it.

Ahh, I have eyes for one of those too even though I have a LXM.
I wouldn't sweat the HPL sides and back or the neck. It sounds just as good as actual wood, but with added durability. Think kitchen counter. The fretboard material is supposedly similar in look/feel to ebony (my LXM is an older model with rosewood so I can't verify), and the stratabond neck is gorgeous and super durable.
Get it, make an demo, enjoy!

I'd definitely go for it.
I needed something that sounded good with a full band or solo, amped or DI and acoustic. It does all those things. I liked the unplugged sound better than the comparable taylor but that is a personal thing. Guild had some I considered at this price point.
I hate the feel and sound of Martin strings (bought a couple of packets years ago and had the old opinion confirmed when I got this guitar) but that is again person thing and an easy fix.
