So i've been at my folks the last couple days, and figured i should get some projects tidied up/finished..

and as the Mig mk II still needs a lot of body work i passed on that..
the jag-stang needs to routed and i've no propper templates...

that leaves the cyclone that i've modified..

all it really needs is a pickguard and to finish being wired up..

my mistake is thinking that i can make a pickguard..

did up a tracing for what i wanted (a modified start/mustang hybrid with jazzmaster control plate..)

made an mdf template..
checked it on the guitar.. it was off in strange places...
used it to make a modified version..
it fit better.. but still slightly off
made another.. perfect..

traced it onto my mint pickguard material.. mounted the template on top..
and then promptly somehow fucked everything up..

even more so when i went to cut the holes for the pickups..

so..

who wants to make me a pickguard?

i'll post some shitt iPhone pictures soon as i Plug the phone in to ape them.

Do you still have the perfect template?

perfect was maybe an over statement..

okay..

so here is the guard that i had on it to start

Image

its a squier jaguar pickguard.. it sucks.. its ugly..
and i fucked up cutting the control plate area..

anyways, so i sketched out a new design, then drew it on a piece of mdf that i had kicking about
Image
made sure that i had enough pickguard material for it..
Image
cut it out, sanded etc..
Image
made two more templates.. then cut this..
Image
turns out i was a little off on the control cover.. but a simple fix..
Image
but still not happy..

to be honest i believe i'm better at the design phase, then skip to painting and wiring

Draw how you want it to be on something that will not change size and send it to me and I will see what I can do (maybe on a piece of plastic like for an overheads, or laminate your paper). If you have it perfect on some door-skin sending that to me is better. Put where you want the screw holes to be, the pickups, and I will get the neck pocket very close. You can cut or file that in to the exact shape when you get the thing screwed down. I have some one-ply gloss black sitting around or three-ply mint if you want.

Dude, that shit punches holes in your brain and makes you think you're Donna Summer for up to 48 hours at a time, would advise against.
