Acoustic modifications / Questions for Canadians

Hey guys.

I wanna throw my lil' 59 on my crappy ass acoustic. I figure I will use a piece of ply-wood across the sound-hole thingy to mount the pickup.
But see, I have never done anything like this ever. What do I need to do such a wiring project? An input... and I can't think of anything else. I'd like a volume knob maybe?

I also have no idea where to buy these electronics as a Canadian. Every retail store is stupid expensive and hardly has anything. Any info would help. I will update with photos when I am home.
