^Teh Kurdtz played his without mods for ages, then it had just a hotrail for a few months before he smashed it. It was later repaired and given a TOM but the comp Kurtdz sig with the JB is based more on his MIJ Stangs from the In Utero tour, they just do one in comp blue because he popularized it in the SLTS video.

Kurt's Equipment wrote:Despite his babying this guitar, he trashed this guitar during the infamous Tree Club show (seen 2). As a result, it had lower edge damage and a broken neck joint

It also seems like Kurt fanboyism is more acceptable on here these days. Times are changing.

The neck pocket broke away from the body and the maple of the neck cracked at the 15th fret. The repairs to both body and neck would've been pretty serious stuff.

I'm sure that it was just a crack and didn't go through to the truss channel. The neck was still in one piece, it was the neck pocket that got really fucked, breaking away from the body with the neck heel.
That MIJ '62 Tele with buckers was his favorite at the end so who knows... the stang might've been a shadow of it's former self post-repair. He didn't use it on In Utero.

I just been watching this:

...his jag gets taken away for a few songs at 5.40 and gets brought back 2 songs later at 11.13

In the mean time he uses his comp stang, which looks like it has a single coil and with stang bridge. Sounds like it too.

Ahh the Hotrails; God's gift to those of use who want a humbucker without tearing apart their pickguard. Though I couldn't find the white "Seymour Duncan" text on a close up of his Compstang. It's gotta be a rails pickup, that's for sure. I'm wondering if the text on older Hotrails was black instead of white.

It wears off easily, almost completely gone from my older JB Jr

His has no text, I suppose it stands that SD might have not printed it there back when they made the only hotrails-looking pickup around.

I bought my Reissue '69 in that color off of ebay for about $350. It came with locking tuners, strap locks, and someone had put in a hot rail pickup into it. I guess no one was looking at the auction 'cause I thought I'd spend more on it than I did.

He did use the compstang for part of the Hollywood Rock show, more than a year after smashing it at the Dallas show.
