I went and got me a Hondo II hard-tailed Strat last Friday. Almost 100% original, reasonable condition. The thing is, once upon a time it had a ashtray over the bridge and I'd like to get one to try on to see if it's something I'd like. It's basically exactly like in the video, 'cept it's black.

I'll post pictures as soon as I get my hands on a camera.

Wild spirit of the Eagle, Black hawk, bird of prey design
Looks like more of a P Bass bridge cover to me, which are readily available. Even if that's not exactly what it was, it should fit the bill looks-wise.

Thom Yorke had one on his Tele Deluxe

An ashtray came on my AV '57 Strat and I've tried the Jaguar ones on my Jag and JS... never liked them to be honest. I can see how it'd be a nice place to rest your palm if you were into fast by-the-bridge single note lines or how you just wouldn't care if you mainly strummed chords more towards the neck pickup, but they make palm-muting impossible and get in the way for a lot of my own string dampening techniques that I never actually think of/analyze when I'm playing. They don't SEEM like they'd give a player like me too many troubles and yet they do... just a relic from a lost era of electric playing, really... bit like the rhythm circuit or the foam mute.
