If you had to have only one electric:

I'm heading off to the west coast next year and will be bringing one electric and one acoustic... finding it hard to choose which guitar to bring. Whats a versatile guitar that you would use as your only guitar?
My options are
MIJ Jaguar
66 Coronado (probably not taking this due to value)
Modded Squier 51
Parts Jazzmaster
??
Also what would you personally want as your one and only?

Squier 51.. you've got a humbucker and a single coil

Thats what I was leaning towards. I just don't like the humbucker. I'm going to miss the coronado

I would do Jaguar because that is my current go to guitar and has lots of sound options. (IMHO)

That would stink to not bring the Coronado, but I do understand not taking it. I would say either Jazzmaster or Jaguar, depending on which one you favor more.

That would be my rationale as well. Any chance you could swap out the humbucker you don't like for one you do, even if only temporarily?

I'd take whichever is your favourite. If it is the Coronado then buy guitar insurance, it doesn't cost very much a year and will cover you if anything were to happen.
The other thing is I'd pick up a nice gig bag, if you're not going to be driving a car around a good gig bag is really useful. I'd recommend Mono if you've got a big budget, or a Protec Contego for a little less money. If it's the Coronado you'll be carrying definitely go for the Mono M80 Semi case.
But yeah, just take your favourite.

I'd take the partsmaster.
Covers some good ground and looks cool.

+1 Partsmaster all the way.

I'd use it as an excuse to buy the Telecaster, that your selection is sadly lacking... but my answer to any 'what guitar?' question is always Telecaster.

Even though I haven't touched it for probably nigh on 12 months, my Burns Batwing.

If I were in your position and was looking to buy one, I would take a CV 50s Strat or Telecaster. At the used price it's expendable enough. Can always buy a pickguard and GFS bucker for the Strat as well.

When I go to uni I'll be taking my Eastman but for just dragging a guitar to grotty venues I think I might just pick up a squier affinity tele as cheap as possible on ebay. A tele is a tele and the cheaper the better, they're always solid.

Epiphone Les Paul. Far from my best guitar but the one I'm most attached to and would never sell - had it for over 23 years now.
If I can have 1 or 2 more then '64 Jazzmaster and 73 Mustang, in that order.

I'd take my Electra X-270. It's a nice solid guitar w/active pickups.

I would take a tele.
If I were you I'd get insurance on the Coronado and take it. It's obviously you're favorite guitar and if you're going for a year, it's silly not to take that one. Also, I would take two electrics and buy a cheap acoustic while you're there.
