Hey shortscale, long time no post. I went out shooting with my 100 type polaroid camera today and thought I would try to emulsion transfer onto some aluminum enclosures. They're currently drying under some glass as they were lifting when I tried drying them in open air. So hopefully the pressure will allow them to dry flat. I've done something similar stuff but with liquid emulsion and I don't know if fujifilm sticks to nitro, I might have to try the gelatin approach or get some poly if this doesn't work out. That's what experimenting is for though. Anyway, I'm heading out so I'll share some more info about this when I get back, hopefully they'll dry to my liking.

Those instant films that I put on the cases are only about 3x4". There are ways to enlarge the image with photo processes in the darkroom or with a day lab, I've seen them be around 8x10". Nowadays with digital film & laserjet printers you can transfer the gel onto items. I haven't tried but I'm sure it's more cost effective. So as long as you find a laserjet printer big enough you could probably coat a whole guitar with a method similar to this.

On another note, the fuji film didn't stick to the nitro laquer, so when I get some time I'm gonna get some poly and see where that goes. When I tried using liquid emulsion in a past project I used gelatin to get the emulsion to stick to glass but I'm sort of hesitant to try it as the gelatin can lift or break when wet.
